General What is this thing on my roof?

I was looking for roof damage after the storm this morning, and noticed this white strip thing on my roof. Anyone have any idea what it is?

You know that you're missing shingles right?

Should be a cheap repair. I've had roofers quote me a few hundred for something similar and then another roofer was like, go buy the shingles and ill stop by and do it for like $50. It took him longer to climb the latter than replace the shingles. So definitely get a few quotes and send them that pic. Will be gtg

A strap so roofers can tie off. If they fall, their harness will stay attached to the strap and keep them from falling to the ground

This is correct, but they are a temporary anchor point and shouldn’t be trusted after long periods of exposure to the elements.

I’m assuming this is a new build, completed within the past year? They are fall arrest ties for roofers. Your builder was supposed to come by sometime and have a guy cut those off as they are not reliable after some time in the elements and should not be used.

As the other guy pointed out you do have some shingles missing there.

it's fall protection that the roofers probably used.
