Discussion Artist Submissions Open
EF’s Creative Director, Nova Han, confirmed on her Instagram that submissions are officially open for artists interested in submitting for next year’s fest. Seems to also confirm June 24-27 as the official dates for 2027.

So I really hope this is legit. Just feels weird it's not coming from them directly and instead someone else post a random docs.link
Edi: I wasn't trying to talk negatively about the creative director at all. Just weary of random links to unsecured docs of all. I get it... It's real

Nova Han is one of the most respected art directors in the industry and as someone who has been involved heavily in past EF’s, they are literally THE source. The entire department is just their name.
There is nothing fishy at all about using Google Docs and forms. The entire industry runs on Google Sheets. I used to help build data systems between labor and AEG’s systems.
I don’t mean this to be rude, but if you’re an aspiring artist thrown off that an open call for art installations is formatted this way, it’s probably out of your league. Polished landing pages and onboarding flows are marketing gimmicks that need not be relied on here. Not having them is more of an efficient filter, honestly.
If someone in that position were intending to apply anyway, they ought do a lot of research in how to submit a polished proposal, and be very wary about making errors in cost estimation, because they typically don’t renegotiate to give you more money.
Making bad first impressions now takes away your chance to make a solid first impression later.

My issue wasn't with the doc. It was the lack of transparency with the post and the post being a random link instead of a link to Nova Hans post. I looked them up saw it was real. I understand you might think me questioning a stranger posting a link straig to a doc might make a bad first impression... But I don't think there's anything wrong with questioning it also. Now people definitely know it's legit. I'll take the heat.

Stop imagining clarification as heat, my guy. All I did was verify this is legit while mitigating letting that action result in an influx of poor proposals, knowing how much time goes in behind the scenes to make this stuff work.
