Reminder.
As much as someone would like to tell you, keeping Em's new verse on Kid Rock's record isn't just "not giving a fuck" about what the "haters" (his own fanbase who love his art) are saying. If you're on a song with Kid Rock, than you're on a song praising a man who supports genocide. If you're on a song with Kid Rock, then you're on a song with a man who praises someone and a system that you've been actively against your whole career.

It's crazy that people think Eminem is the same person that he was when he cared.

u/EnlightenMePixie 2d ago
He’s been rich too long. It’s a disease. How can he not see he just rubber stamped fascism…betrayal is what I feel.
4
u/Number13Studios 2d ago
He can see it and he doesn’t care from his position of privilege. He’s drawing a new line in the sand and his fans and humanity are on the opposite side, and MAGA pedos are on his side now.
6
u/i-might-be-obama 2d ago
I think something people don't realize is that he has WAYYY more in common with kid rock, or even trump for that matter, than any of us. The message about the line in the sand was for FANS, as he even said, not friends in the industry.
What im trying to say is that all the rich celebs, elite or whatever, have more in common with each other despite any difference in political outlook or anything like that, than they do with a random Joe working 9 to 5 who shares every single belief and outlook on life, politics and religion. They will stick together quicker than they would with fans.
So he was telling FANS to pick a side, bc to them regular people are just commodities, but not each other (celebs)
Idk just my two cents

u/MikkelR1 Music To Be Murdered By - Side B (Deluxe Edition) 2d ago
Lmao this is idiotic.
We know Em is a loyal person. Eminem is loyal to those who supported him when he had nothing.
He was also very vocal about Trump. Then later said he didnt like how the "line in the sand" worked.
With that line in the sand he actively contributed to create division amongst the public.
Some of those people who support Trump are your neighbours, your friends, your family. They may have been swayed by propaganda. Have ideas that are wrong.
By keeping them close and talking to them, there is still a lifeline for these people to come back to the good side. If you let yourselves be divided, your already lost.
Russia probably helped Trump into power to disrupt the balance in America and weaken the country.
Eminem actively helped him with that line in the sand. Being on this song is his way of trying to fix that.

I think he means that you arnt American, presumably by spelling of neighbors and the usage of mate
3
u/MikkelR1 Music To Be Murdered By - Side B (Deluxe Edition) 2d ago
I'm not, thats true. But would you be surprised if I said we have Trump supporters in my country? Boatload of them.
And not only that, multiple western countries have a similar political situation going on at the moment.
(I'm Dutch btw, not English)
5
u/MessPuzzleheaded5144 2d ago
Okay but you all have the benefit of not being part of a country that elected the man. Saying "trump supporters are your neighbors" doesnt really do anything for people who have dealt with his supporters for the last 10+ years. These people have had plenty of time to realize that Trump wasn't a good person cause hes not shy about being a piece of shit. At this point Americans are tired of extending a hand to people who actively swat it away like its diseased. We should have put these mfers ancestors in prison for life when we kicked their asses in the civil war and now we unfortunately have to deal with the same evil racists again.
2
u/MikkelR1 Music To Be Murdered By - Side B (Deluxe Edition) 2d ago
There are large amounts of people who think a lot of stuff surrounding him is fabricated.
Imho they're almost indoctrinated.
But the point is: by splitting yourself in two divided camps who both condemn each other, you cannot progress forward.
If have multiple family members and friends who have opposite political believes to me. Who support people I would never. Doesnt change that they are my friends or family. I will always uphold my beliefs and explain them.
There are people I have convinced to take their extreme stances down a nudge or two, who thanked me for looking at things in a different light.
Thats what I mean, you cant do that when you just push those people away.

I have actually never heard anyone say that about Best Friend

Really? I’m not even giving you crap. I’ve also heard the best friends feature verse is considered the best in that grouping and I’d agree.
I just don’t see how it’s possible you’ve never heard that while being in Eminem fan circles.

Right? It’s just a song. At this point people are just looking for things to get upset over.

u/Worldly_Horse_2310 2d ago
How are you people this dense lol. So many people have died because of the current fascist administration. The leader tried an insurrectionist coup and said he would like to terminate the consitution. Its deeper than us liking spaghetti and kid rock preferring marzetti

yeah, masked men snatching people off the streets and government officials using dehumanising language and nazi dogwhistles is totally normal

2
u/Worldly_Horse_2310 2d ago
Of course I do. Nothing in my comment suggests I dont.
-1
u/Kuros_Of_Sindarin 2d ago
Then why is associating with someone who supports this prez an issue but outright supporting the other killers directly OK? Or did you hate Eminem for that too? I"ll let you answer that because I legit don't want to put words in your mouth.
2
u/Bradybigboss 2d ago
Eminem got famous for fighting the government. Him going pro government, Christian rock music is very predictably not what his fans would want
2
u/Kuros_Of_Sindarin 2d ago
Eminem got famous for being a shock rapper who could flow. Fighting the gov came later.
2
u/Bradybigboss 2d ago
Sure, but would you expect his fans to be pumped if he dropped a country album with the Dixie chicks? Probably not, it’s a hard sell. This kid rock thing is the same as that
1
u/Kuros_Of_Sindarin 2d ago
Doing one line for KR is not the same as doing a full album. Also the Dixie chicks might be the worse example you could pick considering they upset their conservative fans by making politics comments and even changed their name to "The chicks".

Because this president is a fascist who tried to do an insurrectionist coup of the country and said he'd like to "terminate the consitution". He has caused far more unnecessary death and suffering than his predecessors. Which is on top of him being a racist and rapist.
I am judging him by the same standard I judge all administrations. He's just much much more incompetent and immoral by almost all metrics that exist 🤷♀️

of course you let this out of this:
’’That line in the sand, was it even worth it?
'Cause the way I see people turning's
Makin' it seem worthless
It's startin' to defeat the purpose
I'm watchin' my fan base shrink to thirds
And I was just tryin' to do the right thing, but word
Has the court of public opinion reached a verdict
Or still yet to be determined?
'Cause I'm determined to be me, critiqued or worshiped
But if I could go back I'd at least reword it
And say I empathize with the people this evil serpent
Sold the dream to that he's deserted’’
34
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
appreciate you dropping those lyrics because they actually prove my point, those lines show Em actively stressing over public opinion and a shrinking fanbase. for someone who claims to "not give a fuck," he’s spent years trying to clean up the fallout from his political stances. collaborating with Kid Rock now just makes his entire narrative look completely directionless and hypocritical.
5
u/BackgroundGlass6793 Infinite 2d ago
he only never gave a fuck when he could punch down lmao, all this shit just made me realise he never stood up for anything at all, he just liked and likes to be an edgy contrarian

’’Guess I'm a little bit of a hypocrite when I'm rippin' shit
But since when did this many people ever give a shit
What I had to say? It's just my opinion’’ -eminem16
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
saying 'i'm a hypocrite' isn't a get-out-of-jail-free card for actual hypocrisy. all it means is that he's aware he's doing it.
-8
u/Antique-Musician9084 2d ago
he is aware of that and you should see the difference between artist and person behind the artist. if he want to support his old friend who got his back long before he was known or even signed to dre who are you to say he cant do that? he can still hate trump and maga but can still be friends with guy who support trump and maga.
-8
u/Kuros_Of_Sindarin 2d ago
Have you thought that mayybe you take his lyrics a little to literally?
9
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
I hope you can look at your comment and understand why what you said is stupid.
-9
u/Zompacalypse 2d ago
It's YOUR clue, to not give a fuck about a celebrity. Enjoy the music and rhymes or not. Literally that deep, who are you to get into someone else's personal life or beliefs??
3
u/Grouchy_Appearance_1 2d ago
A person. People may not like it, but at any point and time someone can judge you, it's literally how morals work. If you don't want someone to look at you and truly claim you are a PoS, with evidence, don't give them evidence. People will claim it regardless, but the moment you prove them right, then yeah, they're right. This idea that "you shouldn't judge" is usually held by people who don't want judgement, but feel the need to give their own, idgaf if people judge me, cause the worse they get to say is "he's not a people person", or "he's an asshole", if you don't want people to have the idea that you're a trump supporter, don't support people who do support him. It's that simple.
2
u/DARK--DRAGONITE 2d ago
Maybe Eminem is erasing the line..
But then on Chloraseptic Remix he's like... I took a stand with tan face . I cut my fan base in half and still outsold you.
He seems remorseful about the court of public opinion siding with a monster anyways instead of siding with Em (being on the right side of it).

I'm going to say this once again.
If you hate the songs because it's sucks, fine
If you hate the song because sometimes rappers have been featured with problematic people, we have some stuff to talk about.
It is interesting to see where people draw the line because it historically it hasn't been with problematic people
7
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
calling it a generic "problematic feature" completely misses the point. this situation stands out because he explicitly forced his audience to take a side on a specific political stance. he made a giant public spectacle out of telling fans they are either with him or against him. he deserves the criticism for crossing his own line to platform that exact system.
-3
u/SoftwareAny4990 2d ago
My point is that it feels as if the politics is being wielded as a cudgel.
Like it's probably against his those politics to use homophobic slurs as a straight man. Misogynistic tones are certainly against those politics. Platforming and working with known abusers is as well.
His fan base was fine with that when the politics appeared to be clearer.
It's the meme:
"I can excuse x heinous thing that violates my politics, but I draw there line at y"
2
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
this keeps on boarding to a lecture about fan morals to dodge the point. fictional shock-rap lyrics from decades ago are completely separate from real-life political actions. he drew a real-world line in the sand, told his real-world fans to pick a side, and then crossed it himself in the real-world. that's the only contradiction being discussed here.
-2
u/SoftwareAny4990 2d ago
May I suggest that diminishing the use of homophobic slurs and platforming people that have been accused of real world violence against women is exactly what I'm talking about?
The fact that this is considered shock rap is baffling . Again, this is why I believe it's the outrage is selective. The politics isn't consistent in the first place
2
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
nobody is diminishing or excusing those things. you are completely shifting the goalposts to make this about fan morality because you can't defend the actual topic. this thread is specifically about him drawing a clear real-world political line against a system and then breaking it for a commercial feature. dragging in an entirely different 25-year moral debate to dodge that specific contradiction is a massive deflection.
0
u/SoftwareAny4990 2d ago
Bullshit.
You don't all of a sudden find issue with the real world politics if they've been violated repeatedly through 25 years.
It's more than likely he drew a line that he himself had repeatedly passed. L
2
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
saying bullshit doesn't change the facts, you just admitted he drew a line and repeatedly passed it himself. you are describing the exact hypocrisy and contradiction ive been pointing out this entire time.
0
u/SoftwareAny4990 2d ago
The fact is that 25 years of moral and political line stepping is pretty documented. The fact that there are some that are done now is suspicious at best.
I was pretty amazed he survived the Rihanna leak. Or the talk about killing his wife. Or the called another creator the f slur in like 2018.
It seems selective.
1
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
youre still trying to police my selective outrage instead of addressing the actual post. bringing up old controversies doesn't change the current situation. you already agreed with my main point that he draws lines and constantly crosses them himself. there's really nothing left to argue about. good day 👍
1
u/Amiibohunter000 2d ago
Kid rock and Trump are beyond just simply “problematic people”
Don’t downplay the absolute evil that is the current administration and anyone involved with them.
-2
u/SoftwareAny4990 2d ago
That's not the point that I'm arguing.
It's more so the hypocrisy of upholding decades of issues that you could also describe as "not simply problematic".
It makes the people seem flippant and selective.
2
u/Amiibohunter000 2d ago
It’s probably just the straw that broke the camels back.
People can try and ignore stuff for so long. That doesn’t make them wrong for finally realizing it was wrong in the first place
1
u/SoftwareAny4990 2d ago
The straw that broke the camels back?
Em wasn't some artist on the publics ire list that was oneobe away from being gone. He was pretty well respected and supported by people after his Kamala support and that was 2 years ago. There is some massive cope on this thread.
1
0
u/Katicflis1 2d ago
Youre reducing all "problematic people" to the same category as though there's no difference between "celebrity gossip/news" and "modern politics."
I am aware Eminem has done a collab with Lil Wayne. I dont know Lil Wayne to a meaningful extent. I don't pay attention to celebrity history. Even if I looked into Lil Wayne and what he may or may not have been accused of in terms of past drama/crimes, I'd have to research whether these accusations are believable. Ultimately, as far as Im aware, Lil Wayne hasn't fucked over thousands to millions of people in a major life-changing way.
But I follow politics. Various celebrities have taken sides. I don't know a single Nicki Minaj song but I know she has repeatedly vocalized support for Trump. And I know Kid Rock supports Trump. And I don't have to do aaaany extra research to know that Kid Rock's side involves credibly accused pedophiles, assholes that are subverting human rights and idiots fucking the economy. My knowledge comes from following politics, not following the life history of everyone eminem has interacted with.
So yeah, lets not act like there's no difference between Eminem interacting with fellow musciain/celebrities that "if you look deeper there's a sus history and they are problematic" and someone who is unabashedly supporting a president pushing toward facism in modern politics + has ruined millions of lives + has started a war where a child's school was one of the first targets for bombing.
1
u/SoftwareAny4990 2d ago
There is no reducing what Donald Trump is doing. That's not the point that I'm making.
There does seem to be some revisioning history or amnesia on the people that Eminem has platformed and what they have engaged it.
It's amazing that "he just interacting with collaborators".
-2
u/chocobo-selecta 2d ago
So, it’s OK for Eminem to sing about rape and murder, but you draw the line at collaborating with someone who has different political beliefs? Got it. You see how silly that sounds?
12
u/10J18R1A 2d ago
And those different political beliefs are...
-13
14
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
conflating artistic fiction with actual, real-world actions is what's silly here. one is a creative choice from decades ago, the other is a deliberate real-time contradiction of his entire political narrative.
-8
u/Acrobatic-Rip-6811 Relapse: Refill 2d ago
So you want him to cut off and doesnt want him to work with all his good friends who has different political beliefs than him?
5
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
nobody is saying he can’t have friends with different views. the issue is not who he hangs out with in private. the issue is making a deliberate public, artistic choice to get on a record that completely contradicts the exact political narrative he claimed to stand for. there's a massive difference between having a friend and actively platforming a system you yourself are against and have told your fans to stand against.
-4
u/Acrobatic-Rip-6811 Relapse: Refill 2d ago
He is still anti trump. Does the verse change anything?
9
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
yes, it changes everything. when you make a massive public statement telling your fans "you're either with me or against me", you lose the right to play both sides later. he can't demand total political loyalty from his audience and then cross his own line the second his MAGA-loving bestie from 25 years back comes along. it completely kills the integrity of his message.
3
u/Acrobatic-Rip-6811 Relapse: Refill 2d ago
Or maybe 9 years later he changed his mind on how he should have said things?
8
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
changing your mind on how you talk to your fans is totally different from flipping on your actual principles, there is a huge difference between wanting to walk back how aggressively you treated your audience and actively platforming the exact political system you told everyone to stand against. doing this track completely flies in the face of both his original message and his backtrack.
-5
u/frushtrated 2d ago
No. You don't lose any rights by saying something. That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. People can change their mind. He did change his mind and said it in "The Ringer." He's not demanding political loyalty from fucking anybody. You are.
7
u/Clean_Brotha247 2d ago
obviously nobody is talking about legal rights. it's about artistic credibility. you can't spend a decade building a brand on strict, uncompromising anti-Trump stances, explicitly telling people to choose a side, and then expect zero criticism when you completely flip on it. admitting he regretted how he handled his fans on The Ringer doesn't mean he changed his core political views or anything and it just means he hated losing money and fanbase numbers.

u/DoubleCrossover 2d ago
I understand the general message, but Em should’ve seen how this comes across. The guy is saying ‘why can’t we come together’ and ‘this isn’t about politics’ and ‘we’re just friends’ only to turn around and do another swivel on Trump’s dick. Like it might’ve been believable if he wasn’t a political stooge actively pushing administration propaganda.
