Eminem when you ask him to collab with the 10/10 artists he's been glazing for the past 10 years instead of pop-stars and fucking Kid Rock
Old school Eminem
The eminem from 20 years ago would have a field day with a 54 year old washed rapper collaborating with a alt right puppet. Especially considering this 54 year old rapper uses an AI voice filter to make it sound like his glory days. Nobody wants to hear their grandfather rap.
Edit: the fact that they've been friends for 30 years or have collaborated once upon a time does nothing to change my opinion. The song is terrible and it's really as simple as that. If you guys really want to defend a guy who has the lyrics "statutory is mandatory" then be my guest, I personally believe that peak Eminem would've absolutely destroyed the sick imitation we have now.

Does anyone on this sub even like eminem?
This isn't even meant to be disrespectful towards em or anyone who has justified critiques of him, but I don't think I've seen a single positive thing said about em on this sub (aside from a few recent happy birthday posts). The only "positive" posts I've seen about him are just people complaining about people complaining about him. I'm 99% sure it's just because this is reddit and no one on reddit is ever happy but it's actually shocking how much his "fanbase" seems do essentially hate him.

My opinion on the controversy
I’m a long time Eminem since he released Infinite and as for The Kid Rock thing I’m abit disappointed but apparently they were friends before he was MAGA and it’s to hard to throw away a friendship for 30 years but I do get why people are upset and disappointed but for me Eminem has got me through my life I’m now 45 and I started listening to him when I was 9, he’s got me through heartbreak, he got me through when my dad passed away, he got me through my friends suicide so i can’t just be like that’s it’s for me he’s done.

Not alike …
Just hear to remind everyone they should listen to this song once a week to never forget how amazing that verse is. Absolute perfection.

Deja vu is top 5
While Relapse is a bit inconsistent, the highs are very high
“Your VCR tape cases, with your Ambien CR
Great places to hide 'em, ain't it? So you can lie to Hailie
I'm going beddy-bye, Whitney, baby, good night, Alaina
Go in the room and shut the bedroom door
And wake up in an ambulance
They said they found me on the bathroom floor, damn”
What the hell happened
I don´t really care about Kid Rock. I'm not from the US and I don´t know about its politics. The thing is, this track sucks.
And I'm saying it as the biggest Em stan I know, I've loved him for many years now. Even in his worst Encore or Revival songs I could find something enjoyable.
But what the hell was that? that was nothing you´d expect from a rapper with a succesful 20+ years career.
The flow was very awkward and monotonous, saying it sounds like an old Eminem flow is straight up disrepecting what 2000's flow was
The rhymes were incredibly childish and basic, he rhymed "see me" with "see me"
The subject matter was uninteresting. It's the same "no one believed in me" we heard hundreds of times but now adding Kid Rock into the mix. It's like he's justifying himself to the audience.
And there is that fuckass Slim Shady voice again. Slim Shady died 2 years ago, why are we still hearing it?
There are many bad Eminem songs, but with these you can atleast see what he was trying to do.
I can't understand how he thought this was something that was ready to release, he sounds like a very amateur rapper. It's as if he only did it because he owed Kid a favor, but he wasn't really interested in doing it.
what do you think? did he really forget what makes a good song?
I'll just go and listen to my SSLP cd to clean my ears.

Officially no longer the worst Eminem song… you had a good run Nice Guy 🫡
I think Eminem, after Shady failed to get him cancelled on TDOSS, turned to Marshall to finally provide himself with a hill to die on
The title basically says it all, but I really think Eminem has, on some level, really wanted to get cancelled since the pandemic. Almost everything he's said for the better part of a decade points to that. So on TDOSS he enlisted Shady to say the most offensive shit he could muster, but it didn't really bother anybody because we love when he does that—if anything, it didn't have enough bite to it.
But if you go back to Infinite, he said:
But in the midst of this insanity, I found my Christianity
Through God and there's a wish he granted me
He showed me how to cope with the stress
And hope for the best, instead of mopin' depressed
And we all know how that worked out:
Tried to argue it was only entertainment, dawg
Gangster? Nah, courageous balls, had to change my style
They said I'm way too soft and I sound like AZ and Nas
Out came the claws and the fangs been out since then
So my take is that it's not exactly an accident that his verse doesn't fall on the beat very well, that he changed which song it showed up on at the last minute, etc. Shady's dead, but Eminem still needs to die and be reborn, so he had Kid Rock hoist the cross.

Genuinely
It is getting so hard to keep defending Em when he putting out dogshit like this. TWO verses to Kid Rock + AI filter + Same ”Dre saved me” story
Obviously I love this guy. The music has been there for me in my darkest times, and he’s still and probably always will be my GOAT. But genuinely I cannot in good conscience defend the shit that is leaving his ass. I cannot debate anyone that says Em is washed, and say that he “still has it”. TDoSS was some good ass music, and to see him doing this shit is so tiring.
His next album better be incredible, because he’s proving the washed allegations right.

What new (yet also respected) rappers would would work well with current Eminem?
I know Eminem has worked with some well respected new(ish) guys like JID, GRIP, Westside Boogie, Babytron, G herbo etc.
What other artists that are newer do you think would work well with current Eminem? Personally, I think guys like Kenny Mason, Ben Reilly, K.A.A.N. (I know KAAN has been in the same studios and met Em, but I don't believe they've actually recorded anything together, at least jot publicly), Marlon Craft, Marco Plus etc. Would sound fantastic alongside current Em.

Is Eminem conceptually possessed by Slim Shady at this point?
Ngl… if Em keeps using that fuckass Shady voice filter on every new verse, he might as well just call it wraps.
He didn’t even actually kill Shady at the end of Guilty Conscience 2; it was a dream. Feels like he’s conceptually possessed by his own character now.
Did the Houdini/TDOSS success make him think we only care about Slim? Is the filter here to stay, or are we ever getting normal Marshall back?

We went into October with promises of a 2Pac collab
And ended up with Ezra Miller and Kidrock Lamar ... I simply don't understand this even from a business or marketing perspective ... Who the fuck is okaying this? Who is asking for this? What is Em gaining from any of this 😭😭😭 This is literally the lowest point in his career for no fucking reason wtf.
