I am building free hands-on DevOps learning community called Real DevOps Lab. It is focused on practical projects, Docker, CI/CD, Linux deployment and troubleshooting incidents rather than just watching tutorials.

I am Thankful on this day I just finished my four lesson video course on QuickBooks Desktop Setup: Step by Step for small business owners. I learned that even though I have been using for decades teaching it for the beginner was a different matter :) To celebrate here is Lesson One for FREE on setting up QuickBooks Desktop company file I share the information in a way that is not complicated technical theory but easy to understand and use from my decades in business experiences. Comments would be appreciated.

I write case studies on founders who went from idea to exit. Completely free to read. I extract the repeated lessons and triumphs and this has helped me shape my business immensely. Study the greats and you'll become one: www.readfounded.com

Free usually only covers the download. The license can still say personal or internal use only, and the moment the output goes into a paid client deliverable you're outside what was granted. That's the failure case nobody in a resource thread mentions, but it matters if you're handing a spreadsheet or workflow file to someone who pays you.
Check the terms before you build a repeatable process around a free template. Look for phrases like non-commercial, internal business use only, or editorial use. A free plan's marketing page won't always show it; the actual license or terms page will. If the terms are missing or vague, treat the thing as off-limits for client work until you ask.
For internal bookkeeping or your own pricing scratchpad, almost any free resource is fine. The problem starts when the artifact leaves your machine and lands in a deliverable. That's the test I'd apply to everything in this thread.

Free rarely means no strings when the tool takes your input through a browser. The string is often your data. Before putting client names, pricing, or internal docs into any of these, check the privacy policy and whether uploads get stored or used for training. If it does, that can breach an NDA even if you never pay.

Half of what lands in these threads is "free" until you hit the wall. Mailchimp cuts you off at 500 contacts, HubSpot hands you the CRM and keeps the automations behind the next tier. Thats a trial with better marketing, not a free resource.
