Trump says that 'wild animals' will eat locals in Montana if Democrats 'take away' guns
https://www.themirror.com/news/us-news/trump-says-wild-animals-eat-2070514102

As a Montanan currently fighting off 3 wolves and a bear I can't help but remember how he passed more anti-gun laws in his first term then Obama did in his entire presidency. So much so that Obama's lax gun laws directly resulted in one of our representatives allegedly shooting himself in the arm.

Also gun sales under Obama increased massively. One thing I realized is that as a group, the right leaning folks are easily led by fear. Trump is simply using what has worked over and over a thousand times. Like saying they are eating cats and dogs(btw the cat referenced was found safe and well the next day). Say scary stuff regardless if its true and millions of people react.

u/Infinite-Research-98 2d ago
Can u elucidate on Trump passing more anti gun laws than Obama - thats a new one to me
17
u/gotlost406 2d ago
Bump-stock ban vs Lifting restrictions on Nat Parks and Amtrak, I don't think either of them meaningfully addressed gun issues one way or the other outside speeches honestly. I'm mostly being hyperbolic, but I think it's telling Obama at least did all the standard clay shooting and grouse hunts for the camera as Trump has never shot a gun in his life.

u/Ashamed-Status-9668 2d ago
Trump likely never attended church either. It's wild how he gets the bible beating, gun toting folks to vote for him. Hell the guy even got out of serving his country. Almost every single value held in rural areas(I grew up in rural Texas) he is the complete opposite.
3
u/WhereMyWeirdosAt 2d ago
oh Trump has been to church, the same as him riding public transit; he'll be there if it's a photo op! Otherwise, count him out!
2
u/madlucas2026 1d ago
tdump does not attend any church, probably never driven a car himself, never packed a lunch for himself or kids, does not drink, never shot a gun, never did a hundred things most people do every week.

My dad gets all kinds of emails from right wing folks… it’s obscene/ criminal , the stuff they say! If you don’t get out much, you start wondering whether this crap is true… as you start looking into it more… it’s easy to confirm what you already want to believe… the internet is a trash heap 😩 my MIL truly believes that there are litter boxes in our public schools for kids who identify as cats… her niece, who lives in TX told her it’s true… 🤦🏼♀️

How can any regulation or lack thereof, cause someone to shoot themselves in the arm? Was it a handgun or a long gun? Was he fooling around,or trying to shoot something else. We need more information here, this is unusual.
7
u/SRGTBronson 2d ago
Obama lifted the ban on private firearms in national parks. If he couldn't have the gun where he shot himself he wouldn't have been able to shoot himself.

cant really
the fear mongering got a bunch of idiots who couldnt use a squirt gun bought guns and the usual results ensued
4
u/AMDOL 2d ago
Can you explain that? How can somebody's negligent discharge be blamed on the government?
6
u/gotlost406 2d ago
Obama lifted the federal ban on private guns in national parks. Dude allegedly droped his gun and had it go off in Glacer National park. Not saying he wouldn't have had a ND some place else but it would't have happened in the park without the ban being lifted. (also assuming he wouldn't have just illegally brought the gun into the park)

The headline says "Wild animals will eat locals if Democrats take away guns."
I assume this means if Republicans take away guns they'll be fine.

u/Opposite_Bus1878 2d ago
Does he think Montanans are made of glass?
Canadians get by with gun regulations just fine despite having more wildlife.
13
u/Hopeful_Ad_7719 2d ago
>Canadians get by with gun regulations
And guns. Lots of guns. A Possession and Acquisition license isn't exactly hard to get in Canada.
15
u/funkiemarky 2d ago
Yeah but it's much harder to get here in Canada than down in the states. You take a course and if your instructor thinks you're sus, no guns for you.

Its frankly a weird thing you see on reddit a lot too, people just terrified of wildlife who believe you need to take an arsenal on the trail for protection. I mean maybe you do, from the other armed hikers.
15
u/Toon_Lucario 2d ago
That’s funny, because I see a leopard eating some dumb fucks’ faces even with the guns right there.

I don't think any one is talking about taking away guns. Its about having sensible gun laws so they are not easier to obtain than a driver's license.

Im a MT local, in the guard and grew up on a farm. Im very familiar with guns and gun safety. Ive received most of my guns as gifts from family members, but the one time I bought a gun myself, I was appalled. It was too easy. Like they do a background check ofc and verify your DL, but a few questions later and you leave with a weapon. Don't need a permit to conceal carry either which feels weird to me. And if I'm packing, its b/c Im a woman and I can't trust everyone to be a decent human being, but its always a last resort. People who treat em like toys, shouldn't have em. And if you havent taken a safety class on what your buying then you probably shouldn't have one either.

u/CoolestSonz 1d ago
I spent a few months in Switzerland in the late 90s. While I was there, I heard about some of their "eccentric" laws. Apparently, every citizen at 18 undergoes some sort of military training and are given a sealed (or a number of) cannister(s) of ammo and a gun to keep with them at home in case of an attack on their country. And yet there are rarely any homicides or mass murders there. Its more common for people to commit suicide due to depression in that country.
1
u/BarracudaSouth6026 1d ago edited 1d ago
That’s literally just because of the internet. The FBI’s NCIC logs every arrest and prohibited person in the country. They can put in your DL# and within seconds NCIC spits out your entire record including every single run in with police even if you weren’t arrested.
Every single person in the country has a profile in NCIC and every law enforcement agency in the country has access to it.
If the system picks you out as a prohibited person then it kicks back a denial within seconds. If the system notices any issues with the information it kicks back a “delay” response and a person manually verifies it.
That’s why it’s so fast and easy to buy a gun. It has nothing to do with the government not doing its due diligence. There’s an extremely thorough background check. The government just has a national database that tracks every single person in the country starting at birth. Before NCIC and the internet the gun store had to manually call the FBI who would then look through filing cabinets.

“Take the firearms first and then go to court.”
“I like taking the guns early.”
“Take the guns first, go through due process second.”
“I think they should have taken them away anyway, whether they had the right or not.”
“We cannot allow them to have guns.”
- Donald J Trump

Well it worked in 2023. Racists love racism more than human rights and prosperity.

We dont need assault rifles to protect ourselves from wildlife... ak 47s were brutal in a few school shootings though

u/ResponsibleBank1387 2d ago
Yep. The senator said the wolves would eat the kids at the school bus stop too. Gmagaop say lies to scare their followers. A while back one dude killed a bunch of schoolchildren and held off a hundred Texas law enforcement, maybe Texans are just wimpier than Montanans.

u/Euphoric_Anxiety_162 2d ago
trump is more likely to take guns than Dems! That iss just another of his lies/scare tactics. Ppl shouldn't be defenseless in this economy either.

Just saying dumber and crazier shit if that was even possible anymore. Just to rally up his base right before the midterms, and what Democrat in office said they want to take all guns away? An Democrats don’t have a problem with normal hunting it’s game hunting they have an issue with, and why would wild animals just start eating the locals just because guns where taking away?

Okay, okay, it's getting really hard to keep track of.
Who/what is eating what/who, and where/when/why?
But on a serious note, how can any sane adults stilll see any of this as a remotely reasonable course to be on?
1
u/Runnin247 1d ago
Sheep mentality. Even intelligent adults can be dumb if they fear change. Ive got a few older family members that are big into their faith and in full support of DT. Its hard to watch, and Ive called them out a few times and mentioned that many things DT has done that go directly against their beliefs. They get real quiet for a while then the rallying starts up again. Just sad. Unfortunately, for some change is scary enough they'd rather adjust their ethica and beliefs then face anything new.

nobody is advocating for ignoring the outliers on a bell curve when it comes to things like gun control.
even places like China that restrict firearms allow Farmers to own them for the purpose of keeping wild animals off of their land.

I don't live in Montana, but the wildlife where I do live will 100% kill you if given the chance. Last month, I chased off 3 bears out of my yard. This summer I had one charge at me and my boys while we were riding dirt bikes. I've had a bear on my porch, I've had one on the roof of my jeep. I've had one get in my trash.
So yes, wildlife in North America will definitely kill you. And yes, I have a gun within one arms distance at all times. Including bathroom time.

The animals are closely following this story, biding (Biden-ing?) their time until the guns are banned and their takeover can begin. Just look at Australia and what has happened there. MMA roos, face hugging spiders and those fucking shapeshifting Koalas... Absolute mayhem.

Not true... The Trump administration argued marijuana users shouldn't have guns. One group is def trying to take guns away.
It's the same group that rapes babies with Epstein

During a televised bipartisan meeting at the White House on February 28, 2018, Donald Trump made controversial remarks about seizing firearms from potentially dangerous individuals before going through formal court procedures: “Take the guns first, go through due process second.”
•
u/NYJetliberal 10h ago
"I say take the guns first and have due process later". This is the most anti second amendment quote that I've ever heard any president ever say and Trump said it. He pretends to be pro second amendment. For almost his entire life he was a Democrat that publicly said that he was for gun restrictions. When his masked government agents disarmed illegally caring US citizen, and then shot him in the back 10 times, only to have our government lie about the reason why they shot him is the the biggest violation of the second amendment that I've ever seen our government ever do. If Obama did this to some right winger, the last Republican violent cop beating insurrection would not compare to what would have happened. And after Trump's masked government agents disarmed and shot illegally caring citizen in the back ten times, Trump said you shouldn't bring guns to protests, insinuating that if you do, you could be shot like the US citizen that was disarmed and shot in the back 10 times. Second amendment truthers not speaking up as their cult leader tramples all over the second amendment it's not a wise decision because there will be a Democrat president sometime in the near future.

“Oh my go-. There are better ways and tools to defend yourself against and survive wild animals besides guns you senile nitwit! We just need to be creative with them! You, however, lack imagination!” Thats would I would say to this pathetic excuse of a president who lacks the power, the imagination, and the focus to actually run for president. He’s nothing but real life Captain Planet villain. One who doesn’t destroy a true for shits and giggles. Nah to him, it’s all about power. If we had real life planeteers, they would’ve found ways to beat this guy non violently.

Trump tried to take guns, first he said to just take the guns Trump 1.0 ,. Trump 2.0 Trump told people to give up gun rights, then he tried to ban guns from anyone who smokes weed and took the matter to SCOTUS over guns.. SCOTUS said no.
Trump was a Dixiecrat and turned into a Republican when Obama won.. Americans especially dems, rejected Dixiecrats both HRC and Trump because they are authoritarians and racist ( the Epstein class)..
