What climate action have you took ?
Like not just changing your own actions like , joining a environmentalist group , making a wildlife charity , contacting your mp etc etc , what have you done or want to do but just haven’t yet

I am vegan, so I eat plant-based. I’m also a broke student so don’t buy anything online. Second hand things wherever possible, etc.

Stuff I’ve done: live entirely off grid. I use a water filter, live off of my bike, use stealthy Dakota fire hole fires for cooking, maybe collect rainwater for water, pick up litter, tell dog lovers to stop letting their dogs shit in the streams of the woods where I live, birdwatching,
I’d like to put my amazing guerilla war and stealth skills to the test and be a monkey with a wrench, somewhere.

Whenever I get the chance, I burn machines that harm the environment as a government agent in the Amazon rainforest.

I believed we needed a Socio-cultural Renaissance to save Terra
So, I started a subreddit to find my people and find solutions to the enormous problems we face now

I dont own a car, buy high quality stuff that dont need to be replaced constantly.
Together with other parents we got a safe parking for cycles and kick bikes, that made more kids go by bike and reduced the amount of parents that dropped of their kids with car.
Sorted out safe bike parking, showers and lockers at work, talked with the trainers so during induction training the showed where everything was for new starters, spoke with local bike shop so they come twice a year to the office and offer free reviews of bikes, and if something more was needed they fixed kit on the spot, like changing break pads etc...
No plastic bags, just a tote bag

I learned about man-made climate change in high school, back in the late 70's and I bought my first woodlot when I was 24 years old and now I preserve 170 acres of diverse forest with 4.5 kms of river and stream frontage. My woodlot sequests over 84 metric tonnes per year and stores over 24 million lbs of carbon. I have been growing, planting and maintaining native trees, shrubs and plants for over 40 years. I live a carbon negative lifestyle.

Go vegan, cut out flying, join up with a local socialist/ communist/ anarchist groups. "Environmentalism without class struggle is just gardening"

I buy locally and ideally straight from individuals whenever I can, which is almost always. I also eat a lot less meat, especially red meat, than I used to, mostly to help the environment and a little to help myself (red meat in particular, since it's pretty bad for people).
I also do not yet drive, but sadly will have to learn for work in my field, BUT when I can drive, I want to try to take public transit still when I can. I wanted to mention this even though it's a hypothetical just because maybe someone will see and do the same!

Planting Trees, cleaning up toxic vegetation, trying to save forest for Koala habitat and pushing for green spaces along pathways and parks

We're rewilding 6.5 hectares back to native forest. This primarily involves planting, pest removal and control, and species tracking.
I volunteer at both a community bike shop and a repair cafe to try to encourage people to repair things, keep them out of rubbish, and use more sustainable transportation.
I'm working on making a photovoltaic electric continuous pyrolyser to help us take care of our weed material and prevent reseeding while sequestering carbon for hundreds or thousands of years. This could also be used for melting aluminium cans into ingots for casting or recyling or for extruding plastic waste into more usable forms.
I can't drive myself, but when I ride with my partner/family we use an EV. We have solar.
I vote accordingly.
EDIT: Looking at the ones below: I got a vasectomy as soon as I could.

I stopped buying new stuff. In doing so, I realized that quality products are so much better than “quantity” products.

Did as much education as I could in my journalism career.
When I realized how limited that was, changed careers to work in energy efficiency, until that almost killed me.
In the meanwhile, reduced, reused, recycled, composted, gardened, commuted via transit, advocated for solar, taught small animal husbandry and gardening.

Same. Among other actions such as reducing use of plastic and petroleum based products, re-use and recycle, managing our garden for wildlife, planting native climate acclimated species, reducing water use, energy conservation wherever possible, taking climate change into consideration when making large purchases (auto, computer, appliances - mpg, use of recycled parts, so on), and staying abreast of climate change where I work so we can do more!

I clean up trash with my dog every day. Plastic breaks down in the soil and then retains more heat. So it helps the neighborhood look better, keeps sewers and water cleaner, and infinitessimly mitigates climate change. I also find it relaxing and I think everyone would like it if they tried it.

I love a litter pick. When I lived in Lawson, I tried to recruit people to my CULT (Clean Up Lawson Team). Ended up being a one person shoe, but gee I loved the leader 😁
•
u/Nita_taco 7h ago
I love this. I have also tried to recruit in the past with no luck. But I really enjoy an app called DeleteLitter. It kind of gamifies it and I pick up a lot more now since I started using it.

I try to eat as plant-based as possible. Hopefully in the future, plant-based diets will become more accessible here.

I've emailed all my TDs multiple times to varying degrees of response. I've done some stuff with various political groups and volunteered for a few charities and have gotten involved with some land based projects too. I'd like to do more but being physically disabled it's tricky. I think I've found my niche with the land based projects though, they're both political and practical, which I like.

I hosted a sustainability summit at my college, spread the word about green workforce jobs, and have been listening to sustainability business podcasts because people don’t listen unless you can explain how to make them money. So trying to learn and better articulate how sustainability is better financially and has mutual benefits for the environment and humanity. Environmentalism makes everyone wealthy and changes how we define wealth.

I work for a nonprofit consulting team dedicated to reducing GHG and I am on the board of a nonprofit garden org that focuses on food equity.
I'd like to reduce my reliance on cars or have a space to have an electric car but that is currently not feasible.

Well, I haven’t flown since 2003. My car gets 43 mpg and I always combine trips to town with appointments/shopping. I’ve cut back on plastics and compost a lot of food waste. I don’t use AI. I vote for politicians who understand climate change is a real problem. And I don’t have children.
Not a lot but I try…

Aside from the little things in everyday life, I promote environmental economic policy on social media as much as I can.

Not much I'd want to say publicly. But short answer would be that I have helped liberate Indigenous territory
