Image Thomas Massie: ‘The House adjourned until after the election to avoid votes on releasing the rest of the Epstein Files and on the impeachment of SecDef Hegseth. When we return, if the files haven’t been released and if Hegseth is still in office, I’ll force a vote on both.’
Thomas Massie’s new post, he calls out the fact the House was adjourned in order to avoid certain votes, and when the House is back in session he will force a vote on both.
This is also a quote he put in the comments:
“Many of the files we can view are still redacted, and there are many we can’t yet view.
Even the DOJ admits they are withholding files, citing BS like “deliberative privilege,” even though the law says they must release anyway.
It’s a coverup through and through.”

Wish I could just choose not to do my job to avoid things I don't want to do and still get paid. Like honestly how is that an option to even utilize?? "We're afraid of the results of democracy so we're just not gonna do it"

Instead of doing anything about it, Americans pine to be one of them. Hmm.
21

When Americans say that it's typically in a sarcastic way. They're basically saying "Wow, it must be nice to get paid to not do your damn jobs while I'm actually working and not making anywhere near as much."
The person posting is not seriously planning to run for office.

By the time they get released, a single individual would've had enough time to scrub every piece of information and still have plenty enough time left. 😭

Or we could collectively as Americans do what the constitution says is not only a right but a responsibility as an American citizen to demand change take down a corrupt government that's literally feeding off of the people. We're all on here just crying about it instead of shoveling manure into the Capitol as the French would.

i don’t understand comments like this. you sound judgmental but you’re admitting you’re part of the problem. so what do you actually suggest people do?
2
u/AdrenoSphinx 2d ago
You don't understand the comments or are you simply trying to call me a hypocrit? Which I guess is partially true; I'm not storming the capitol alone, no. It's also not my place to be the person leading the charge. I can't by necessity. But I am trying to find the people who are meant for that to support.

The point is, you can't go on complaining about how no one's doing anything if you're not doing anything either.

16

Generally, but not this time. Massie lost his seat because of his honesty.
11
u/red286 2d ago
Nah, he lost it because he didn't support Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, Hegseth's war crimes against civilian fishermen in the Caribbean, and demanded the release of the Epstein files. Outside of those three issues, he was still a Trump taint-licker, voting the party line on 90% of the votes.

Did you just read the headline and not read anything below it. He said "many of the files we can view are still redacted, and there are many we can't yet view."
They have access to files that are improperly redacted to protect the identities of Pedos instead of victims. And over 50 of the files were never released at all. So they have access to less then 50% of the files and those files are all redacted to protect pedos. So what do you want them to release? Everything they have access to has already been released awhile ago and when it started being a big enough story we attacked Iran and the news started covering that instead of the Epstein files.
9
u/tooembarrassinglol 2d ago
There are lots of bots (and useful idiots) who parrot the rhetoric that Massie and the Dems are just pretending to do anything, and they are equally complicit as Trump/Republicas in the coverup, so there's no point voting at all. They're all bad blah blah.
They won't answer any of your questions because doing so makes their narrative fall apart. What they will do next is change the subject or answer with a bad faith question.
3
u/Necessary-Bed-4973 2d ago
People don’t read articles, it’s what I’ve learned about Reddit over the years. They just read the clickbait headlines and get mad in the comments.
23
u/TSHRED56 2d ago
Republicans hold 218 House seats. Just 3 defecting to independent ends the majority — no Speaker Johnson, no GOP committee chairs. Democrats + those 3 could finally open real investigations and hearings, and actually slow Trump down.
Massie, Crenshaw, Greene (I know, she quit) all talk tough about him but won't touch that lever. Talk is cheap.
Actually doing it would cost them their party — that's exactly why they won't.
Massie's probably banking his tough talk for a 2028 run instead.
Party over country.
12
u/tooembarrassinglol 2d ago
And this is why voting matters.
There are bots who say that both sides are blocking the files. But if people would have voted in just a few more Dems to replace those Republicans who refuse to sign Massie's petition, we'd have progress on this.
8
u/Fit_Cut_4238 2d ago
Not sure I understand this.
Massy is a lame duck. There is a small window after elections and until the new congress where he can personally force a vote as long as congress is in session, right?
Are you saying he won’t do that?
And then when the new congress is seated in January, the dems will likely have both houses or at least a majority including independents. And then they don’t need republicans for the vote, but they wouldn’t have 2/3 to stop a veto. And Massey is gone so the dems would need to champion unless another republican like massey emerges.
Are you saying they still won’t do it?
9
u/TSHRED56 2d ago
I am saying that just after the primaries Republicans like Massie could have flipped the control of the House and we would already be having consequential hearings and the House would still be in session. Instead people like green and Massie would rather just complain and act like some sort of rebels which they aren't based on their lack of action.
1
u/Fit_Cut_4238 2d ago
My understanding was that they planned on doing this, but they wanted more on their side, and then the republicans decided to go home. So, he's saying he will do it once they are back.
And maybe Massie was asked by dem's or supporter to delay until after the election for some political reason. It's not like anything would be released or happen immediately; it would have only been the theatre of the votes.. So it's not to-do with the actual release of the files, etc.
Right? or do you think he actually won't do it when they get back?
6
u/SljivovicaNL 2d ago
Force a vote how? If he has that power, why didn't they do that a long time ago?

2
u/cupittycakes 1d ago edited 1d ago
He's not a hero. He has been bought and paid for already. Conservative billionaires see that maga is dead. They need a Republican to "play sensible," while also being a good distraction. He is representative of "LOOK, WE TRIED." They do this because they need an obedient option for 2028, and they are going to war to win that presidency, having every angle as an option possible.
Katie Phang is making actionable steps towards getting the truth of the Epstein files, but the AG has now defied court orders, and nothing is happening. Or the judge keeps WARNING him to comply, but nothing is happening to the AG.
Massie's drama is meant to draw attention from that court situation.

u/Fit-House4365 2d ago
Vote these asshat republicans out! Mike Johnson has put the house on leave for extended periods of time to avoid voting- on the Epstein files among other things.. so they are not working -we are paying for what??? They don’t host town halls - that stopped when their constituents would yell and verbally challenge them during . So they ended. they are doing nothing but protecting a criminal organization AKA the Trump administration to steal and grift off anyone they can
3

u/100LittleButterflies 2d ago
If he could force a vote why hasnt he already. It's just more of jack shit. Just stringing us along when they have no intention of doing anything.
23
u/tooembarrassinglol 2d ago
Because Mike Johnson and the Republican party are pedo protectors and ran home instead of signing Massie's discharge petition. When the house returns, Massie has the signatures needed to force a vote.
This is exactly what happened a year ago with the first EFTA. He was able to force it to a vote and got the files out we have now.
You just don't know how anything works or what is going on.
1
u/cupittycakes 1d ago
No, this has all been planned out by Republican think tanks. Massie lost his election, so he is safe to be the "sane republican" representative.
Massie was told to perform the drama of the first EFTA, because the Republicans already knew they were going to let abusers claim they were victims, so all the abusers could get their names redacted.
You can't trust Republicans. ESPECIALLY ONES WHO WERE TRUMP CUCKS. He didn't become a better person just because he was elected out of his political seat, he just switched to a more clever gameplay.
1
u/tooembarrassinglol 1d ago
That would make sense, if he didn't already do this last year before losing his election.
2
u/cupittycakes 1d ago
Ok hmm. Now that's got me considering. I'll need more in depth information before making that kind of claim again.
But I still can't trust him and figure it's more likely to be a billionaire plan, than not. The Republican party is dead because they got into bed with Trump and he crushed them.
14
u/rockskillit 2d ago
He can’t force a vote because the house is not in session. Our representatives are on a long, paid vacation while our gas and food prices and utility rates are through the roof.
2
u/A2Rhombus 2d ago
At this point it's gone so far that the morally right thing to do would be to release the files personally without approval from Congress. Trump does shit without approval constantly, it's frankly embarrassing that after the first Epstein vote passed and the files didn't get released that everyone just threw up their hands and said "well we tried"
0
u/ThatBaldAtheist 2d ago
Yeah I've seen him pop up so many times over the last several months, and he's done jackshit but say things like this. Glad he's still on it, but it seems performative at this point.
3
u/Socialimbad1991 2d ago
He was involved in getting the first EFTA passed. His party was obstructing it last time, too, but eventually they had no choice but to vote on it. Though at this point I'm a little worried they're trying to slow trickle this thing to the end of time...
4
u/l00pee 2d ago
My man, you are either not paying attention, or don't know how things work. This man, despite all of failings, has been at the vanguard of getting the epstein files released. So much so, trump had him primaried. He is done after this term, and can only do anything when congress is in session.
2
u/tackleboxjohnson 2d ago
Poor fella thinks the house isn’t going to immediately recess until after the new congress gets sworn in, if and when they let that happen (i.e., if rigged election fuckery results in republicans maintaining a majority, and Johnson saying we have to wait for the “will of the people” to be heard with the new congress). Otherwise we’re likely to get Jan 6 part 2 or some form of martial law.
I appreciate what one of the last principled republicans left is doing here, I really do. But let’s actually think this one out before we get too excited.
2
2
u/willychonka54 2d ago
This entire thing has just been performative.
0
u/tooembarrassinglol 2d ago
If it were just performative, he wouldn't have forced the vote the first time and got the EFTA passed and the files we have now.
He has the signatures needed to force a vote again to give this second bill teeth and more files released.
The only ones being performative on this matter is the rest of the Republican party.
1
u/willychonka54 1d ago
the files we have now.
How is it not obvious that the files in the public sphere now are essentially meaningless? I don't mean the content of them - there's clearly some debauchery going on - but there's literally nothing of consequence that can be accomplished using the currently released files alone.
The reason I suggest this is performative is because Massie is not a stupid person and he knows the elite will never give up their grip on power by complying with a silly democratic process like a vote.
These files need to be leaked.
1
u/tooembarrassinglol 1d ago
How is it not obvious that the files in the public sphere now are essentially meaningless?
The first file release showed enough proof of the DOJ lying about there being nothing to warrant investigations into others besides Epstein/Maxwell. It also proved that Howard Lutnick and others lied about their involvement with Epstein. Then there's the files involving Trump raping a 13 year old.
but there's literally nothing of consequence that can be accomplished using the currently released files alone.
There have been consequences. Not criminal charges like we want, but people have been fired or lost titles. Which is a start. It has also triggered more investigations, and gotten others arrested overseas.
He knows the elite will never give up their grip on power by complying with a silly democratic process like a vote.
They complied last year and voted on it after Mike Johnson was unable to stop it. Why not now?
2
2
u/Foreign_Barnacle3776 2d ago
Maybe one of the times we tell them “hey we really mean it this time” they’ll finally listen
1
u/portobox2 2d ago
If forcing a vote were effective or possible, then you would have done it already.
Unless there are other reasons that are behind the limpdick response of action from most of our representstives.
8
u/DunkBird 2d ago
I mean there's nothing you can do when the speaker adjourned the house. Exact same thing happened first time around and the second they came back it slammed through.
6
u/portobox2 2d ago
And what if they just keep the house adjourned? They already dont follow the law, so what if that just continues?
We have to be ready to actually fight at this point as far as I can tell, especially considering the efforts to ratfuck Omar out of her citizenship.
6
u/DunkBird 2d ago
That's why the midterms are extremely important right now
2
u/portobox2 2d ago
No disagreement there.
Ive just lost faith in the whole mess. Considering the Amerikkkan dissolution of support of Ukraine, I legitimately see an attempt to join Russian forces on the Crimean front in our future, since Trump's daddy complex means he'll always be Putin's buttboy, and all we can do is watch.
1
u/cupittycakes 1d ago
Trump and Russia, together, are deciding that AI be implemented within the military's weaponry. With no oversight. They want AI to have controls of every weapon imaginable, this includes nuclear, and to have full autonomy to decide who to execute and when, with no human intervention. And no safeguard for human intervention.

Thomas Massie’s new post saying he’s forcing a vote on releasing the files and impeachment of Hegseth when the house is back in session.

1
u/YoureAmastyx 2d ago
It feels like congress is closer to a theatrical performance these days.
1
u/tooembarrassinglol 2d ago
How did the files get out that we have now?
1
u/cupittycakes 1d ago
The Trump administration allowed abusers to claim themselves as victims and have their names redacted. Once they did this, they then gave the AOKay for Republicans to vote yay.
So yes, theater. Republicans have turned it into a f****** theater.
1
u/tooembarrassinglol 1d ago
But how is forcing the files out "just theatre" on Massie's part? Not everything has been redacted, there's enough to prove that the Trump admin lied about numerous things on this matter and to warrant more investigations.
If it was just theatre, there would be no file release last year at all. And it wouldn't make the Republican party so afraid that they have to now run away home on recess.
They are obviously not coordinating with Massie on this. He was literally rejected from his party over it.

u/Twisted-Nature 2d ago
The previous administration (the Biden-Harris administration) held the federal Epstein-related files from Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 arrest and the subsequent Department of Justice (DOJ) investigations until January 20, 2025, when the Trump administration took office—meaning the previous administration possessed the files for roughly 5 years and 5 months (from July 2019 until January 2025).
Why didn't they release the files when they had it for over half a decade? Especially if they thought Trump could be implicated negatively and crush his presidential Bid?
The answer is simple, Both sides are heavily implicated in some way and they can't release it without falling into their own trap.
11
u/tooembarrassinglol 2d ago
Julie Brown, the most credible person on the Epstein case, who investigated in 2016 and exposed the Acosta deal to the world and got Epstein and Maxwell locked up:
"Again...the Epstein case was still an OPEN criminal investigation during the Biden administration. They had an open grand jury ... And even after Maxwell's conviction, the case was on appeal -- anyone in law enforcement knows you don't open your case file when it's still under appeal. There were still victims going to the FBI with new information. That changed when Trump's DOJ reviewed the files and closed the case in July."
You don't know anything about American law or the history of the Epstein case. That's why you won't be able to comprehend Julie Brown's statement. But I'll leave this here for others who can.
3
u/def-not-bot 2d ago
The FBI was still working on cases and it's not typical for the DOJ to randomly release case files. Biden's DOJ was normal, perhaps to a fault. It also put Maxwell in prison; not the club fed she's in now with puppies. We expected to see the files as evidence in court.
Trump campaigned on releasing the Epstein Files and doesn't allow his DOJ to run independently. He halted the investigation, so he can't say it's an ongoing case. Congress passed a law forcing the DOJ to release them.
Please save your false equivalencies.
2
2
u/AGorgeousComedy 2d ago
I cannot for the life of me understand why you still believe that both sides are heavily implicated. The Rs and the president are the only ones preventing release.
0
u/YoureAmastyx 2d ago
Absolutely dude. The entire old guard, so to speak, is likely at the very least indirectly implicated. They’re all colluding on the best way to avoid getting burned. It’s literally the only thing that could possibly prevent either side from destroying the other. Mutually assured destruction.
3
u/tooembarrassinglol 2d ago
What actions have Dems taken to make you believe they are colluding with Republicans to cover this up?
Forcing the files out would expose everyone on both sides.
Dems are trying to force them out.
Republicans are actively blocking them, but haven't been totally successful.
How are both sides the same on this? What is the basis for your narrative?
1
u/mikebunchkin3727 1d ago
They get that shit bc of dollar bill’s involvement, and they think all dems are on that level. It’s stupid, but the country is stupid, so it comes with the territory. The RW propaganda machine can trick anyone if they consume it enough

He has done NOTHING to fulfil his promise to ‘name names’ once he lost his election.
Remarkably, this ‘hero of the Epstein Files’, is now protecting pedos. This is NOT supposition - this is FACT based on his own words many months ago. Google it.Even though he has been voted out - he remains the typical politician. Says a lot and does the least. He has named ONE person, just last week. That’s it. The ONLY name from the unredacted files from the ‘many powerful people’ he promised to name almost a year ago.
One month after he made his promise and had released no names - I suggested he was weighing his options to see who would approach him to make the best offer to keep him quiet. Now that months later, he has only outed a University professor, who probably doesn’t have a lot of money or political influence, therefore would have nothing to offer Massey to keep his mouth shut.
His bait and switch bullshit with this ‘new’ Epstein files bill - which really is not the big deal everyone thinks it is, has worked like a charm. He is using Trump’s playbook. His new bill has stopped EVERYONE from forcing him to fulfill a very important promise he made many months ago.
Well played Massey, well played.
