cakespectation - Negative The “Pig Cake” I made
In 2019, I worked at a company where we did a “bake off” like competition to raise money. The expectations were:
Follow the theme and do not use store-bought cakes.
Our theme for this year was animals and myself like an idiot - “I have pink icing! I’ll make a pig”.
Picture 1 & 2 - my original inspo
Pic 3: Said Pig.
Needless to say no one bought mine.

That’s actually disturbing. Like two whale fins sticking out of a carrot pile lol

It looks like a swarm of murderous carrots are consuming the rabbit alive.
10
u/changeneverhappens 12d ago
That's exactly what I saw too lmaooo. Except I first saw the carrots are worms.
Yuck!

Does your cake look like it does cuz it saw this cake? What kind of nightmare factory did you work at?

u/Constant_Chicken_408 10d ago
This made me laugh so hard after physically recoiling from the murderous carrots

u/Away-Living5278 12d ago
But it's just a pile of fondant. Unless you like the taste of fondant, yours looks tastier

The carrot cake is funny but I bet yours tasted way better. I'd probably have passed on the pile of fondant.

u/jaybomb81 12d ago
This is nightmare fuel. I feel like someone prompted an AI, got one of its typical uncanny valley terrifying images, and then tried to recreate it with fondant. Just 100% no across the board.

Wouldn't God's name where they going for? Those ears are too creepy
43
u/gelatinoussandwich 12d ago
I think they were going for the shape of a rabbit, but made out of carrots. Why they didn’t just make the ears ALSO be carrots is a mystery. Instead, it’s as if the carrots are encasing and devouring a rabbit, with only the ears being spared 😬

This actually makes the pig one a little more appealing. I would question whoever thought making a bunch of fondant carrots with fins on top was a good idea.

I like this! Do you have more pictures of the others??

"no chance"? This carrot thing looks pretty bad too tbh. Where there any other cakes or just those 2?
5
u/oddscenity 12d ago
This is not a pig but a pile of carrots with blades sticking out of it and I'm into it. A+

I would absolutely buy that cake. He looks like he's seen some unspeakable things, but he's still trying to smile through.
I aspire to be that strong.

u/meg-b 11d ago
does he go outside to use the bathroom? Is he litter trained? Do you use pee pads? I have so many questions on the logistics of this because it’s rad as hell and I’m kind of jealous. If I thought for one second I could convince my husband to get a house pig, I’d already have one in the car headed home with me.
7
u/weebles_wobbles 11d ago
😂 Yes, he is totally house trained. He actually has his own room because he knows how to open cabinets and the fridge and cannot be trusted. So if he is bored or has to go potty he knocks on his baby gate to let us know. He has a paddock that we can put him in, but a lot of the time he free roams in our yard (while supervised of course).
He does have a litter box in his room, but he rarely uses it. He will use it if his ramp to outside freezes over (it happens even though we cover it to try and prevent that) or if the snow, rain, or temperature is too severe for him. He does have a special piggy blanket that he can wear outside, but when it’s in the negatives, he just cannot handle that. Plus his little hooves get no traction on ice.
He will also go for walks on a harness, although I joke they are more like going for “steps” because he stops for bites of grass every few feet 😂

oh my god i love it. that's a pig that has seen some things. that's a pig that has loved without reservation, skied without face protection, and sniffed some fun things up those spirally nostrils. In my heart and in my imagination that pig cake has the voice of Matt Berry and the soul of a jelly bean.
: ) charming, thank you for posting even if it did not meet your expectations

The bull looks awesome. Ad now I get the carrot cake and I am more disturbed by it. Poor rabbit was actually attacked by carrots

How did "murder carrots" beat bull, echidna, ombre fluffy guinea pig..? 😱
So many of these look amazing!!!!
And I'm sure "traumatised pig" tasted delicious!

Lmao 😂 😭😭 Found out my cat has cancer today and there’s nothing we can do for her but your wonderful pig cake made me laugh. Thank you for that. 💔 🐽 💔
11
u/Ornery_Welder5900 12d ago
I’m so sorry about your cat. Sending hugs.
3
u/Jaded-Juggernaut-663 12d ago
Thank you so much. Definitely need the hugs. 🫂 I forgot I even shared about her yesterday as it was maybe an hour or two after leaving the vet’s office with her and I think I was in shock. I’ve been trying to distract myself because I know what’s coming and honestly can’t even believe they sent her home. Was hoping the steroids would help but so far nothing…
Can I ask you a question? Should I not comment like this about my cat? I’m late diagnosed autistic and I feel guilty sharing this information because it might make others sad. I’ll just try not to comment any more on her and maybe I’ll make a separate post somewhere if I need support later. I probably just answered my own question so no worries if you don’t want to reply.
I’m so sorry to anyone reading who didn’t want to see this. I really struggle with what’s acceptable and “normal” to share and she’s just on my mind so idk … it’s hard for me to separate my thoughts and feelings etc. even though I’m really here to distract myself.
Thanks 😢

u/Ornery_Welder5900 12d ago
You shared that something made you feel joy when you were otherwise having a sad situation, you shouldn’t apologise for that. If you want to talk about your cat, you are more than welcome to. She deserves to be spoken about.
When the time eventually comes, you are also more than welcome to send a message- I lost my dog of 16 years in June, so I understand losing a much loved pet.→ More replies (1)8

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Poor girl , I can’t even believe it and it’s hard not to feel bad for every time I didn’t feel like petting her or shoo’d her away etc. but I’m just trying to distract myself and not feel guilty because that’s not going to help anyone. Still hard though!! I have a 20 year old cat who’s doing well despite his old age and she just turned 5… 💔
Been dreading losing the little old man and never once thought I’d be losing her.
Really sad. Thanks for caring enough to comment on her. ❤️ I’m 45 and haven’t lost a pet since childhood so it’s going to be really hard to lose her. Anyway, thanks again. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️7

If my friend made me a cake like that for my birthday I probably would be hesitant to eat it because I wouldn't want to ruin that masterpiece. In my opinion I would take that cake over the other ones any day. The giggles i would get from having a cake like that would just make my day.

Distorted Peppa Pig theme intensifies Are the snout and overturned ears made out of cake? Sugar cookies with frosting might be easier to work with (source: made this mistake before). May your pink fellow be tasty either way!

u/ScrumpetSays 12d ago
If you ever want to give it another whirl, feel free to reach out for some help. I am a reluctant cake baker, I loathe decorating but it does mean that I have a lot of tips and tricks to make things look good. Lots of tiny things make a huge difference (like your cracking fondant probably wanted 15 seconds in the microwave before you rolled it out) and I always like to save people the stress. Fwiw I love him, you did really well. And the carrot thing is hideous.

Yeah. Fondant gives a great look, but it's really no replacement for a good buttercream icing. I'll take the janky icing any day.

I saw the first Pic and thought, 'If they have some experience working with fondant I'm sure it'll turn out okay.
Then saw the second pic and thought 'Oh! This pic is the inspo, they did a good job.'
Then I saw the last pic and.. At least you tried.
