Discussion A letter from an experiencer to another experiencer
I had someone reach out recently, and it made me think..
They said, very genuinely.. “I am proud of you. You have come so far, so quickly. You are like the “perfect experiencer” and I appreciate what you do for the community.”
Except it was much longer, and very heartfelt.
I am not sharing this compliment because I just want to talk about myself, or that I think I am perfect… because I am far from it. But it got me thinking.. why? What do they see in me? Then I asked myself.. What do I see in me?
The first word that came to me was resilience, but resilience wasn’t gifted to me… it was built, through pressure, and practice, over many years. It was embedded so deeply within me that it became something that I just knew. It was a part of me.
I have always been resilient. but only because I had gone through so many years as a young child with self-loathing, shame, victimhood, and hardship. I was literally tortured by my own mind for so MANY YEARS. I couldn’t do it anymore. I couldn’t keep hating myself.
I realized that it was ME, torturing ME.
I had a major transformation in my life while I was around the age of 17 years old, and simply just made a single choice to stop believing the lies I kept telling myself, and that I only had myself who could change my life.
I literally had no one, so I looked at myself and said, “I guess it’s just me who can save me. “
That single act of belief in myself, along with small acts of forgiveness within, and changing my life every small step forward .. truly changed the trajectory of my life significantly.
I became self confident, self reliant, very successful in my career, made a beautiful family with the person that I had called my best friend. I am extremely lucky in my life, but not because I wished for it, but because I believed in myself, and I did the work to get there. Every time I was afraid of failure, I shut my brain off, told those negative thoughts to fuck off, and I did the scary thing anyways. I faced my fears all of the time. And every time I did, I succeeded.
I KNOW that there is nothing in this world that could take away my mind, my dignity, and my heart. I work very hard for it. Every. Single. Day.
You can hurt me, but you can NEVER break me. Because I have been beat up and broken beyond measure, time and time again; but when I said never again, I meant it.
That is a fact. The only thing that we have in this life is our perception and choices. The most important thing that we can do for ourselves is to learn how to control it.
I am very careful about my thoughts. I am very careful about where I place my focus. I rarely gossip. I never watch the news. I try to be the best version of myself every single day, and I am in competition with myself every single day, and only strive for being better in all aspects of my mind, body, and soul.
So, sorry if this comes off as aggressive, but I am just simply passionate. If I can believe in me, then you can too! But it takes practice, patience, and TONS of self forgiveness.
As an experiencer to another experiencer, here are my recommendations:
- Stop reading, watching, or communicating with anyone or anything that may induce fear, comparison, judgment, or anything that would cause you to think negatively about yourself AND others. Especially complaining. This is a frequency trap, make good choices. When you think bad thoughts about another person, it’s mainly hurting yourself. Your frequency creates your reality. Pay very close attention to the media you consume, the people you talk to, your thoughts, your choices. Find goodness within yourself, and find the good in your worst enemies, or simply ignore them.
- Every single night before you go to bed, forgive yourself. Give yourself tons of grace. The moment you notice a negative thought, change it immediately into something good. Don’t believe those lies.
- Meditate, daily, for at least 20 minutes. This allows you to practice noticing your thoughts and the ability to change them immediately.
- Find a passion. Create! Anything! Do something for you, every day, or as often as you can. Make a commitment to yourself, and keep it.
- God is real. I don’t care how you want to believe in God, just know that it LOVES you, because you are perfect, and you are made in its perfect image and within you.
