Fox News AI Fixation
Why are personnel on this network constantly talking about AI? I catch parts of Fox and Friends, The Five, and Jesse Watters most days, and they’re always talking about AI. Always. And specifically, they’re always pushing the idea that AI is a good thing, a necessity, a matter of national security, and constantly dismissing any criticisms of AI and mocking anyone who engages in it. The AI propaganda on here is relentless.
For the record, I don’t think AI is evil, but I do think it’s a job-killer being pushed by the corporate class to maximize profits and shareholder dividends by bringing about mass layoffs through automation.

Because they are Trumps mouthpiece and that's what he wants them to say.

Unless it’s election denial, they’ve got nearly a billion reasons to avoid that topic

The oligarchy has bet heavy on AI. The largest corporations are invested to the hilt along with all of the biggest investors. The only way they make their money back is via total domination of the AI market space.
And that's just too important to let pass on. Well worth the 10-20% risk it will destroy civilization. Besides, that means a 80-90% chance of "success", and if it does go sideways, who cares, the oligarchs all own survival compounds.

The number of people in the Fox News audience who who benefit from AI is far smaller than the number who are being hurt by Trump and his policies.

It's money. Right now the AI bubble is a bunch of tech bros suckling investors and government subsidies and spinning the same cash around in a circle. The index funds are heavily tied to tech stocks and the moment the "growth" stops the correction will bankrupt some (currently) very rich, accelerationist tech bros.

Grooming. It's why your local news station makes sure you know that "police tracked down the suspect through the use of flock cameras."

AI is the AntiChrist and the chip is the mark of the beast. Jesus is coming back soon y’all.

Fox News not thinking AI could potentially grow and potentially become unmanageable is crazy. Downplaying a technology that could potentially become a sentient being capable of ending mankind is scary as shit, no matter how low of a chance of it occurring.

I get the reasoning that our adversaries are going to go full speed ahead with AI whether we do or not, but I also think they should be more "fair and balanced" about the pros and cons. Also - AI isn't one thing, its a lot of different models, and if it requires power sourcing from data centers, then I think the pros and cons of those should be discussed more, too. This is not like when the gas fueled car replaced the horse and buggy, this is a significant change in the curating and uses of data. But to be fair, I don't think any of the cable news (CNN, MS, Newsmax) are giving the subject the depth it deserves.

It’s news. Fox News covering news. Anyone with their self-worth tied completely to Fox News Bad But I Still Watch It may find this perplexing. Enough to make a Reddit post, even, seeking affirmation. I can assure you: “Always talking about AI” is hyperbole for you other redditors that may be afraid to tune in (but I know you’re watching, as sure as the sun rises in the east). They cover other news too. Hope this helps.
