11pm last night browsing this community and I see people digging away at wax in their ears… makes me think I wonder if that’s why I’m partially deaf in one ear and have been for the past 5 years. Fast forward to today. Next day shipping ear probe and camera… I can now hear in 8k. Felt incredible coming out however I don’t condone poking around in your ears just to entertain strangers on the internet… just like I did 😂

At 864g this hedgehog is a good size but was out in daytime, covered in ticks.
Any hedgehog out in the daytime is a major cause for concern but an overburden of external parasites tells us that there is an underlying issue that has allowed an excessive amount of ticks, fleas or mites to take hold.
10 to 15 ticks on a hog this size (5 or so on a juvenile) is perfectly normal but more than that, particularly if they are clustered around the ears and/or face and they need assessment at a rescue.
