I can’t find my cat and I am getting highly desperate
My male cat went missing 3 nights ago. He is only two y/o, very timid and gets scared with any type of noise. We adopted him and his brother 2 years ago when he was 5 m/o. He has always been an adventurous cat and has gone outside on two other occasions but we quickly found him in a spot near our apartment building.
But this time he wasn’t in his usual spot because someone had locked it. I think that when he got out, he probably went back to his safe spot, but since it was locked he might’ve ran away somewhere else to hide.
We live in a street filled with apartment buildings, all next to each other, and big houses with big backyards. On the back of my building there is a garden with big trees, flowers and a bunch of death leaves and tree trunks. I have frantically searched for him there for 2 whole nights now, and nothing. Not a single meow or any glowy eyes.
We have put up his carrier with some clothes with our scent and his toys and food near the place where he usually hides (the one described before). We even put some other things that he can smell right in front of our balcony. For two days now, nothing has shown up.
It is important to mention that we have focused our search not only on the backyard, but also in nearby gardens, streets that lead to ours, and even construction work which has plenty of spots where he might’ve been hiding. Nothing.
I am trying to keep positive, but the fact that we’ve been searching endlessly and still no sign of him is driving me insane.
I just want my baby back and I am going into a deep spiral because there’s no way to tell if he is safe or not. He’s a very sweet cat and I miss him deeply.
Please I want to hear similar stories that might feel me with hope, cause rn hope is all I have to survive this terror.
Ps: I am sorry for the long rent, but I just needed some place where I could express my thoughts on.

Have you posted in other cat subs, and your city sub? I think this one is more for playful pictures of cats playing. Other subs will have more people who are experienced with finding pets who got out of the house. I'm sorry, and I hope you find him soon.

Put his bed or the used litter box out so he can find home by smell. Look for him after sunset and call him. Cats will hide during the day.

I’ve tried everything, still no sights of him. I even did a trap with his own carrier, filled with me and my sisters clothes so he could smell them and then some boiled chicken on the back of the carrier. It was intact the next day, which might be good news because it means that there’s no other cats on the area.

Are there Animal Shelters or rescues you can ask to see if he has been picked up? If he is a shy cat, they usually don't go far after getting out.

He is an indoor-only cat and is, in fact, very shy (even with my own family members that come to my house all the time). I’ve put flyers on the area, but maybe I should search longer ranges?? (I am not a native English speaker so I am sorry for my English)
Also, we though we had saw him yesterday on the train rails, but the cat quickly went into hiding again. We waited for him to come out to be sure if it was him or not, but we waited for 2:30h and nothing.

Don't give up hope; try a trap near the tracks in a safe area. He may be exploring.
