Crunch v Planet?
Can anyone weigh in on how crunch fitness is since it opened? google reviews are very mixed, some upset about payments/membership cancellations but overall it seems decent? i’ve been going to planet fitness for the last few years and would like something a little closer to home. nothing wrong with planet, i really only use the treadmill and some machines so extra features like tanning beds or saunas are lost on me lol

I go to both, i like planet a lot but honestly a lot of their machines aren’t great. For example, the range of motion on their leg press & hack squat are lackluster to me, & they don’t have a great selection of ab machines, & they are missing a lot of things like cable wrist/ankle wrap attachments, & the laid-back seated pedal cardio machine thing.
Crunch is 100% better, i think. It has the things that i mentioned that planet lacks, & it has better versions of the machines at planet. It also has more of EVERYTHING, more cardio, more machines, much more dumbbells, & it has a sauna. The only downside to crunch is that it’s a lot more crowded than planet.

planet has changed it around the last few months but they took away some machines (i can’t find the seated row machine now… maybe im blind lol)
i also like how you can go to exercise classes at crunch, those were always fun when i had a ymca membership years ago.
is it constantly busy, or is there certain times when it’s slower? my fiance and i usually go to planet around 7-8pm and it’s never too bad.3

I’ve only really gone to crunch in the morning/noon & it’s completely fine, but the evening is when it gets reeeally busy there

I’ve not used Planet but Crunch apparently has no hot water.

During busy times, I've noticed that the showers don't get very hot, but I wouldn't say that it's a chronic problem.

Fair enough. My wife and son both have memberships and according to them there has never been hot water available at any time they’ve tried to use them. I don’t think they’d be unlucky enough to always be there during busy times but anything is possible.
I used my wife’s guest pass and the time I went there was literally no one else in the men’s locker room. I was the only person using the shower and it had no hot water.
Crunch has continued to text me and email me asking for my feedback and trying to sell me a membership. I’ve responded to their texts and emails with questions regarding the hot water and I’ve never received any response with an answer, just more marketing.

So I’ve cracked this! They do have hot water it just takes a SOLID full five minutes for it to heat up. Every time. So I turn it on, go sit in the sauna and when I’m done, the water is hot. Crushes my off grid soul a bit to waste all the water, but it works every time

I love the spin classes. I tried pilates, and the instructor was good, but it wasn't my cup of tea. The body sculpt yoga class kicked my ass.

I refuse to go to crunch just because when they first opened they dropped flyers all over town and for a good few weeks all the parking lots in town were just littered with ads from em. Pissed me and a lot of people off.

I’ve been going to crunch since June and have really liked it. I also do mainly cardio (elliptical) and a few machines. It’s clean, not crazy busy and the price is pretty good.
