For what it's worth...Texas 35 Gators 24....Prove me wrong Gators. I'm 82 yrs old, been a Gator fan since I was 8 yrs old. Each Saturday I pull for the Gators, FSU and whomever plays GA,AL and ND. GO Gators! Get up and Go!!!!

Good news boys. CFP is expanding to 24 teams, so it doesn’t even matter that we suck, the sport is dead!!

2

u/Weird-Revolution2079 3d ago

And we currently couldn’t even make the 24 CFP 🤣

We beat them last year in large part because our defensive front could reliably get to Arch, but unfortunately their O-line has improved drastically this season and we struggle to generate pressure without blitzing and leaving our already horrible DBs with even less support. So while Arch is still overrated and Texas has other issues on offense our defense is simply nowhere near good enough to do what OU did to them last weak.

Meanwhile the odds of our offense having a bounceback game against potentially the best defensive front in the SEC is low. Baugh will likely be held to less then 50 yards and altogether this is just a rough situation for Tramell to be making his first start.

Maybe their offense shoots themselves in the foot a few times and we can find a touchdown on some explosive to keep the first half close, but the flood gates will eventually open and Florida loses something like 34-10.

Watching their games, I don’t see how you can say that Texas’s offensive line has improved dramatically. A consistent reason for their offensive struggles is the fact that opposing defenses have been able to get pressure and sacks on Arch.

1

u/MogaMeteor 1d ago

Their O-line is grading out conciderably better then last year, but sacks/pressure are a QB stat as well and Arch is who is at this point.

Florida will continue to perplex the nation after winning in Austin:

37-24

2

u/connoibbrewer 1d ago

Congrats! You had the closest score prediction in this sub. This week r/LonghornNation won with an exact score prediction of 27-24.

1

u/bigfatsocat 3d ago

41-23 Texas.

One of our TD’s comes early, one in garbage time. We settle for 3 field goals. Arch throws for 3 TD, runs for 1 TD. They get another rushing TD, and kick two field goals.

I was at the Gators/Texas game last year. I’m calling the same result, Gators in a close one on the road!

2

u/StayWeirdGrayBeard 3d ago

If we can move the ball on the ground a bit AND gets lots and lots of pressure on Manning…we’ll still probably lose by double digits, but hopefully aren’t humiliated.

Texas 41

Florida 13

Just don't see it being close

Texas - A lot
Florida - A lot less

u/connoibbrewer 1d ago

Congrats! 52-10 was bold and it paid off. You had Florida winning and every one of the 44 analysts I tracked had Texas, so you won the coin for the Texas game. Check your DMs for the claim link.

Ohio State in a low scoring game

Msst take down LSU in a high scoring game

UGA completely dominates Auburn

Alabama pules away late against UT

Mizzou beats Ole Miss

Miami beats FSU but the game is closer than the experts think

ND rolls BYU

UK gets passes Oklahoma in a close game

Houston beats OSU in a shootout

and the Gators fall in a 38-28 game but it's the coming out party for Jones.

u/srdn4 3d ago

Texas 42
Florida 3

Just don’t see our OL holding up against their front. Wheels have come off the last couple games against much worse defenses. Texas offense isn’t really that scary but if we can’t score and continue to bust coverages and not get pressure, could be a long day

Hope to be wrong and hope Tramell can give the offense some juice

2

u/ZealousUse 1d ago

Don’t quit your day job.

2

u/srdn4 1d ago

lol where was your prediction?

Happy to be wrong, go Gators!

1

u/ZealousUse 1d ago

I was fully expecting them to get killed. Go Gators 🐊

1

u/BeeStory 2d ago

I just hope we keep the scoring streak alive these next two games. I could see this game or the UGA game sitting at around 35-0 entering the 4th quarter, and if we're lucky we sneak in a late FG or TD against their backups.

Its going to be UGLY. This coaching staff has no answers when trailing.

3

u/Xak_13 3d ago

You're getting downvoted, but this is a very realistic take. Muschamp has got a really good defense. Our O line will get manhandled and Tramell will be scrambling all day, and we will never get into a rhythm offensively. Our swiss cheese secondary will make Arch look much better than he actually is. I think if VB3 plays we might score 10, but it won't matter because I don't see any scenario where we hold Texas to less than 20. Just like the last two games, we keep it competitive in the first half, and then the team gets deflated in the second.

13-7 Texas at halftime, 34-10 final.

2

u/HotDawgConnoisseur 3d ago

Maybe having VB3 back and going with Tramell changes some things up for the offense but at the end of the day we still have the same OL and Texas has a good defense.

If the team quit after being doing 7 points at half at home versus a bad SC team then I don’t see this game going any better.

17 - 38 Texas

Texas fan here, so take this in the spirit it’s meant. I’ve been tracking score predictions this season from various national and team-centric shows, and I’ve also been running a weekly score prediction thread on r/LonghornNation.

Each week we compete against the analysts to see who can call the final score closer, and lately we’ve been competing against other subs. Most analysts drop their predictions on Friday, so a lot more will get pulled in tomorrow.

This week we're going head-to-head with this thread to see which sub calls Saturday's final score closest. r/CFB's matchup thread is in it too.

The scores already in this thread count, no need to repost if you’ve already dropped one. If you change your mind, your last comment before kickoff is the one that counts.

There are 2 coins up for grabs this week for this sub:

  1. The Texas coin, for the closest call in this sub, and for anybody who beats (or ties) the closest analyst.
  2. The r/LonghornNation coin, for anybody who beats (or ties) the best call from r/LonghornNation.

To win either one you need the right team winning.

Each thread, and the results after the game, are posted in here.

Personally I'm a little worried about VB3 possibly being back this week, that guy's electric. Go Gators, I'll be rooting for y'all, just not this Saturday.

1

u/greypic 1d ago

I have no idea what i won but I will take it

2

u/gonzoforpresident 3d ago

How do you determine closest? Is it point differential? Total points between the two teams? Hitting a team's exact score? Or some combination of those?

2

u/connoibbrewer 3d ago

Good question. First you need the right team winning. Then I add up how far off you were on each team's score.

So if the final is 31-10 and you picked 24-17, you're off by 14 (7 + 7). An exact score is off by 0, and if two people are equally close, they both win.

9

u/manBearRilla 3d ago

I wish I could be more positive but I’m not sure I can right this moment. If we get VB3 back and Singleton is healthy then Jones can have some weapons to work with as long as the run game can actually get going.

What concerns me most about this game is how our defense will perform. Texas has two very solid receivers in Coleman and Wingo and our secondary has not been good this season. Neither of them has been better, on paper, than our top receivers this season but our secondary is probably one of the worst that they will have seen so far, so my concern is that this is the game that they get unleashed.

I think with VB3 back the team gets a spark of life but the Gators ultimately fall 38-21 and we fall to 4-3 going into the bye week.

I’m very concerned if Philo is out. He gets a lot of flack but on paper he gives us our best shot to win with how our team is set up rn. Jones is not a runner. He is not a scrambler. From his hs scouting report he works worst when the rush builds and has a tendency to panic or create bad sacks but according to more recent reports claim he has improved under pressure. Hes never faced pressure like Texas though. Our bad tackles vs that Texas defense might be sack city. His inability to run also removes a large aspect of our already struggling running game in this offense

If our tackles can give him time then we might have a shot because Jones is the much better passer. He needs to be in rhythm and get a bunch of short passes down quickly. Maybe if the defense can be forced to back off and maybe if our tackles played a bit better than they have played he could push the ball downfield

His arm is great but his running ability is not so great. Hes a pure pocket passer in every sense. We BADLY need Baugh, Montgomery, and Pryor to create a situation where Texas tells Jones “beat us with your arm” because he can do that. It remains to be seen how well he has grown to deal with pressure and if he still panics. For all we know he could be a Tom Brady waiting in the wings. On paper it should be bad but maybe his passing ability makes up for any deficiencies in movement.

If Jones is willing to take a beating then he can win this but it’ll be a very different offense than what we are used to. If he does poorly then don’t hold it against him too much. He stayed a Gator when he could’ve left. Our deficiencies on offense line up to make his weaknesses look way worse than they would in a different context. I actually think Jones could be a great QB, and I don’t want a short notice rough game to tarnish people’s opinions, but maybe not with our skillset rn. if you ask a fish to climb a tree…

Then again Trask was in a similar situation when he was finally called up to replace franks and he did well. Better OL though

Edit: forgot to predict. Florida 42-17 Texas. I ain’t ever siding against my own team 🤷‍♂️. I think Faulkner is adaptable and Texas won’t really know what to prepare for as Philo/Jones would be entirely different offenses. In previous weeks Faulkner got shut down (among other reasons) because other teams had film and somehow figured out our tells. Maybe Texas’ lack of film on the Jones led offense reignites that mojo we had to begin the season. He has the arm and we have the WRs for this. DKR is the most non-factor stadium to play in in the SEC outside of Vandy so he will at least have that going for him if he does start

u/connoibbrewer 1d ago

Congrats! You picked Florida and beat every analyst I tracked (all 44 had Texas). That won you the coin for the Texas game. Link to claim it is in your DMs.

Congrats! You had Florida when every analyst I tracked had Texas, and you were tied for 2nd closest in this sub, off by 11. You won the Texas game coin. The link to claim it is in your DMs.

6

u/Technical_Beyond_501 3d ago

I can see it. Our tackles somehow give Jones time and he channels his inner teddy bridgewater against Muschamp. His Ds seem to struggle more with running QBs iirc but every now and then a pure passer comes and punches him in the face. OL gotta hold up and Jones has gotta be ready to take a good bit of punishment this weekend

Our defense can’t be consistently this bad forever right? Right? I feel like we’re due for our yearly fluke game and a manning is the perfect game to have it against

1

u/bigfatsocat 3d ago

This is the most talented team we’ve played all season though. Tramell isn’t all that different from Philo as a player, and our WR room isn’t magically going to improve from last week. Only difference is our playbook shrinks with Tramell

3

u/Working_Group955 3d ago

that's a great pretdiction

2

u/Weird-Revolution2079 3d ago

That’s the spirit

8

u/Weird-Revolution2079 3d ago

No matter how bleak, I’ll never bet or predict against my team. I’d rather be wrong every single time than to watch them win after predicting against.

The locker room loves Jones. This could reignite a little something. Duke Clark  is out, Baugh knows he has to deliver in a big way again for the team to win.

Also Arch Manning is trash. Without his last name, he’s starting at UTEP instead of UT. Sark is just a better version of Billy, unwilling to give up play calling to his demise.

I live in ATX, it’s been swampy as all hell here, the team will feel right at home.

Everyone thinks UT will play angry after losing. Our guys have the ultimate test. How to respond after getting laughed out of the top 10 and then out of the top 25.

Florida 34 Texas 28

This is 100% a situation were nobody wants to play Texas this week cause of what happened last week. Unfortunately that team is us.

5

u/OrangeRangerVideos 3d ago

Texas 42
Florida 28

I think there’s a good chance the offense improves with Jones. But I don’t have any confidence in the defense and Texas plays angry after losing to Oklahoma.

1

u/Technical_Beyond_501 3d ago

If our tackles don’t show up to play then this is going to get much worse. Jones is nowhere near as mobile as Philo is and that’s probably why Sumrall went with Philo in the first place. Traut needs to convince those guys to have the game of their lives. Give Jones some time and he has the arm and accuracy to pick apart that defense

Hopefully he’s more like a Kyle Trask. Slow, statue, pocket passer that comes in and rips teams to shreds surprising everyone

We will see how adaptable Faulkner actually is as an OC because this offense will be very different. We have the WRs to do this and Jones can get it to em but that OL and those RBs have gotta do their job. No Duke Clark is a pretty big loss for us

2

u/usernamedanistaken 3d ago

I think this is probably pretty close. If Baugh and the OLINE shows up like they did the first few games, I could see it being closer
