Can This Just Be The Fire Tocchet Thread? That Way, The Mods Don’t Delete It And The “Tired Of Hearing About It” Crowd Can Stop Crying To The Mods.

Forcing offensively talented players to play in a system that demands a high level of defensive talent to execute is fucking dumb. It literally relies on using their defense as the primary means to generate offense.
Look how often the most talented offensive players get stuck in their own zone and have to head to the bench for the end of there shift when they FINALLY get possession.
That’s why the dump and chase is so damn prevalent.

Friedman says Danny doesn't want to make too big of a change, but I dont buy that. What does Tocchet provide thats so worth investing in long term? The team needs a jolt and that can come from a coaching change.
Not like he's shown any plans to develope and encourage our young guys, so just can him and either find a better fit now, or have an interim coach until we do. We'll still likely be bad, but at least the young guys can get ice time and develop into core. Otherwise, what's the point?

This is where my head is at. Fire sale at the trade deadline to hopefully get enough draft capital to where we have a core to set us up for the next decade plus between Dupont + Leafs pick + whatever we can get for Acciari, Bunting, Risto, etc.

Well unfortunately if they do decide to make a coaching change, bring on some actual change then. It’s been a string of defensive obsessed coaches. Maybe Woodcroft or Cassidy.

I'm at the point where now I want it to happen just so we'll know for sure how much of this as Tocchet versus how much of it is the roster.
I still believe in these players. Of course we need another guy or two but what team doesn't.
if I was Briere I'd want to know that too.
I'm old enough that I remember when the Flyers had young guys but no stars and so they brought Briere in as a player and had John Stevens...he was a players coach by my recolletion and the result was Richards and Carter did alright as players (not so great off the ice) but pretty on the ice.
Why not give a player friendly coach another spin

Nah. Not even being sarcastic, i dont mind the fire tocc posts. Theyre relevant and I dont want to talk on a day old posts. Threads dont have as good engagement as a fresh fire tocc post
