I half watched this while playing video games, seeing Martone and Michkov make such a sick play was fucking fire, Hey taco, keep the young guys rolling please.
I figured we’d take a much bigger hit in terms of lotto odds whenever we finally got a win this year but honestly? Dropping from 2nd to 3rd isn’t bad. Guess we’ll just have to see if we can actually play well enough to dig ourselves out of the hole and play our way out of a top pick this year. Gonna be a tough ask having that many games in hand already compared to other teams. Though isnt necessarily a bad thing considering a guy like Privalov (assuming he sticks at C), Meyer, Neuenschwander, Joseph, or Sundstrom would be a fantastic add to the team. Any of those guys would fit really well on a line with Porter on the left and Matvei on the right. Hell, depending on how juicy that Toronto pick ends up being we could wind up with more than one and I sure as hell wouldn’t complain about that.
Columbus has only played six games to our ten too, like don’t get me wrong we could absolutely go on a heater and play our way out of the top 5, but it’s gonna take a hell of a win percentage the rest of the way to get out of the top 10 I think.

I genuinely wonder this: imagine being Tocchet. You've just watched your two young forwards win you the game, and then you turtle the third and barely play them. They get first and second star of the game.
How the fuck do you go into that lockerroom and expect to be taken seriously. "Hey guys great game, especially MnM! That's why I sat you most of the third in favor of a guy who was sat on his couch while you both busted your asses off at camp!"
I was there, and 4 SOG the third period was so hard to watch. Clearly the plan was to park the bus for an entire period. Ottawa outplayed the Flyers badly in the third. Yes the Flyers won but it was so ugly. Gonna be really hard to win a lot of games if the players with hot hands are chilling on the bench.
I will say I like the irony of having elite goaltending and good wing play after the Richards/Pronger era of "Oops all centers" and no goaltending or great wings.
I also think it stems from management yelling at him to play the kids more, on Snow The Goalie Press Row Show: Ant San said he was told to play 39 and 94 for at least 15 mins and neither hit that mark

But in what fucking world should Denver Barkey be getting more ice time than Michkov and Martone? I don't even dislike Barkey. It's just him getting more time than our first line caliber talent is absolutely insane to me. He isn't even a veteran! He's not even more "oldhead" style than Michkov or Martone either!

Even in this game, where they (along with Zegras) are the only offensive players worth a damn, they end up with less than 15 minutes. For fucks sake this is infuriating.
Tocchet will probably say that he isnt telling them to be passive in the 3rd but even if he is his line deployment in that period definitely sends the message that they are trying to hold on for dear life.
Yea, he took a bad penalty that I seriously thought was going to screw us and Tocchet didn't do jack to penalize him. Michkov or Martone doing that would result in them never seeing the light of day....which Tocchet was doing anyways
Tocc started out giving them so many shifts that they actually got into the game and scored 2 goals. Had to tone it down after that and let the vets play so we didn't lose the lead.

I went to the flyers Stanley cup event today at medford and then the game. I think im the reason for the win. I transferred stanley cup aura onto the current team.
the funny thing was at first it looked like Pinto took a run at him but it was literally Vladar wrapping him up like a linebacker and pulling him into the net. it was hilarious
they showed it immediately from two different angles and then showed it again after a tv timeout and then one more time when they went to intermission haha
That third period made me fucking miserable. We had 24 shots through 2 periods and put up 4 shots in the third. I watched Matvei Michkov singlehandedly put the team on his back only to get benched for the last 8 minutes of the game and finish with less than 15 minutes ice time. We scored two goals and Rick Tocchet said "Yeah, that's enough", parked the bus, and only pulled out a win because Dan Vladar stood ten toes fucking down again. This is not "the right way to play" ... it's fucking chickenshit cowardly, and I can't even enjoy our first win of the season because I know that smug asshole is about to get out in front of the press and act like he pulled the team across the finish line tonight.
Porter Martone played 9 must-win games at the end of last season and averaged SEVENTEEN MINUTES ice time per game. His lowest TOI last year was 15:13 in his third ever NHL game. This year? Thirteen minutes a night. His highest TOI this year is 15:18, basically the same as his lowest from last year. He got benched for the last 7 minutes of a game where he had a goal and a primary assist on the only two goals of the night. The only two guys on our team dragging us anywhere, and they're being fucking kneecapped by that bald asshole.
Immediately! We have two potential superstars on the team, and rather than try to teach them to close out a game like a fucking coach would he shuts down the entire fucking offense by reducing us down to 9-10 forwards, taking out our two offensive threats, and gassing out the rest of our guys so they're even less effective than they normally are. Christian Dvorak nearly played 22 minutes out of 60?! Christian Dvorak STARTS every game as Christian Dvorak, and you're gonna make that worse by wheeling his ass out there for 6 of the final 8 minutes? It's fucking malpractice and I need this guy gone expeditiously.
Michkov and Martone were great. Zegras had a solid game too I thought. Jiricek is showing flashes on the PP too which is nice.
But my god, Tocchet still is pissing me off. Playing so passive when you’ve got the lead in the third, only three shots the entire period until the empty netter. Not good enough. Keep your foot on the gas. We already don’t get enough offense. And the ice time continues to be an issue. 13:29 for Martone and 14:52 for Michkov tonight. When the both of them look that good, and are quite literally single handedly responsible for both goals tonight, it’s criminal to not give them 17 minutes a night. Take off those stupid glasses and pull your head out of your ass, Rick.
Not complaining because we finally got a W…BUT…. Michkov ONLY like 2:30 in 3rd period and Martone almost 4 minutes. Tocchet sitting on leads is bad hockey that I can’t support as someone who understands this isn’t a cup contender. Develop your guys Tocchet (yes today getting the first win is justified -AFTER the Fact, but if we had lost lead like last time he did this 🤬)
They played a good game, Vladar looks back to form, and Michkov and Martone made plays. Still a long way to go to dig themselves out of the hole but there's nothing to complain about tonight.
