Rush Advice D1 Athlete and thinking about rush
What’s up yall I currently play football at University of Oklahoma thinking about joining a frat in the spring How do I even get a bid with such a busy schedule and even managing pledgeship if it’s possible or if someone has done it

It's uncommon that frats are accommodating with their pledging plans for different folk's schedules. But since you're in an important position, some frats might value having D1s and therefore will be accommodating. You'll have to make that clear with the frat you're rushing, but only tell them after you're invited to closed rush and they show some invested interest in you.
As a pledge master myself, I would be more willing to accommodate to pledges that showed a lot of investment of effort. But no matter what the pledge master says or does, DO NOT let them deprioritize your commitment to the football team. It's your job to break the spell they cast that pledging is the most important thing.

Playing football at Oklahoma is no joke, I could only imagine how demanding that would be on your time. From what I can imagine, I couldn't see it working with the commitment to football. Have you asked anyone on the team if they ever had anyone who was also in a fraternity?

I went to OU and it would be tough, but we'd always let players into our parties etc.

I'm not sure the time necessary for football and for pledging could really be split like that tbh. We had a wrestler get a bid and he had to drop after 3 weeks because of the time commitments being too much.
I'm not sure how enjoyable it would actually be for you but if you can make it work, go for it.

/u/Immediate_Tough_4709 Read this whole thing.
The Rush Advice flair is only for PNMs/rushes seeking advice. If you aren't a rush, please change the flair to something else.
if you are a rush (interested in joining a fraternity), PUT THE SCHOOL NAME in the post.
Or at least describe the school. Examples: Large Big Ten school, medium sized northern D2 school, small west coast school" etc. Any descriptions help.
The post flair MUST be "Rush Advice" instead of "Question" or "Serious". We need to know which school it is because rush varies wildly by school.
To everyone else: Report the post if it's a dumb post or the wrong flair or no school is mentioned, and we'll remove it. Thanks.
