How to get Internet and avoid updating my PS5?

I love Castlevania and wanted to play the demo for Belmont's Cure, but my PS5 is telling that I'm all of the sudden unable to connect to the internet without updating the damn system. Is there any way around this because I refuse to upgrade the console for... preservation purposes and want to play the demo on my PS5 so I can transfer the data.

Tbf Steam is better in nearly every way from PSN. Also PC as a platform isn't a closed system so overall it's quite a bit better for the consumer than a closed system like a console.

But if you own a ps game on disc, you can play it for as long as you keep the disc in good condition. Steam could theoretically remove access to the game you bought, but for ps5 you could just disconnect internet and play it to avoid removing access no?

Also, GoG is the best. Devs just need to stop being douches about DRM

It's not assinine, it's the truth. Sony literally prevents you from logging into PSN if you don't update the console, and a lot, if not most games require a connection to play. You can be offended about that, but it should be aimed at Sony, not that commenter.

The connection thing isn't even true? I play physical copies and none of the games I own require me to be connected to the Internet. Same with the few digital games I have on my console. I've tested it. So why perpetuate this false idea that ALL games on the platform have this problem.

AND IT IS ASS! I bought and paid for this machine I should be able to do whatever I want with it that technically is not illegal.

Get a second ps5. Keep the original one for preservation and the new one for being connected to the network /s

Or... if you have access to another platform you can always just get the demo to plan on there

It has never been better having two PS5s in a timeline like this. I got two PS5 disc editions
I know what im going to do with one of them :D

Nope. That is in fact the limitation of not updating. Once you stop PSN is non-existent.

You can preserve what you have but you can not use the store, play online, or update your games through PSN.

If you do plan to go the preservation route I would jailbreak your console immediately and start looking at what options you have for alternative or dual boot OS. As that's where you will have the greatest amount of freedom and control.

You should also not log into to your PSN account or go online at all as you can end up with an account ban. PSN is dead to you.

Yeah I get that now, it’s still bullshit. I should be able to use the Internet without updating the stupid software. Like oh, I don't know an other PC?

You can use the internet without updating - your browser still works fine.

You cannot use SONY's services without updating.

You can use the Internet to a much greater extent after you jailbreak and install other apps or an alternate OS. Just make sure you research thoroughly what these things do and what you will be able to do with them once installed.
