I sold my PS5 and so are some of my friends and went full PC, it’s not worth it anymore.

Didn't Sony say recently hardware sales weren't the priority right now? And that squeezing every current customer for every single cent they can is the objective now?
I'm 100% not buying the next console and I'm lucky I invested in building a PC four years ago.

Don’t sales typically go down throughout the consoles life?
Like yeah..I can imagine why PS3 sales were low in 2013, it had been out for 7 years and the PS4 was around the corner.
Not to say we’re getting a PS6 next year, but we’re pretty far into this consoles life. I’d imagine that a good majority of the folks who wanted one have gotten it by now

Only price point of 1000+ euros makes a huge difference, if they can get it to 700e it would sell well.

All that needs to happen is some immensely popular sony-only "hardcore" third party studio returns their PS6 development kit and makes their next big name main-line series Nintendo-only exclusive for the next 20 years, and the time line will start to heal.

Exclusives are dead. Decomps are being made in weeks, soon they will be made in a day.

If you have 1k and want a *console", buy a Steam Machine. You will be able to play any game until the current gen, you will be happier and you will still use it 10 years from now.

Console at the end of its life cycle sees sales slow.

Historically, the 6th year of a console is usually when they sell the most.

What!? That’s an absolutely insane thing to pull out of your ass and believe
Console sales always slow at the end of their life cycle. That’s why new consoles are released.
Do you have a single source to show that any console, from any developer, from any era, have ever sold their most in year 6?
Edit: “it’s a fact” then deleted or blocked. Well if it’s a fact it should be easy to find proof.
Sales increase in year 6. Not sales.
As in discounts, not units sold.

It's a fact.
Look it up, moron.

Did you look at a single data point around COVID and decide that's the norm?

Historically, the 3rd and 4th year are when they sell the most actually. The 5th and 6th year is when they start slowing down production because its not expected to sell and start making plans for the next gen.

The PS6 is going to flop so hard...
And there are several reasons for this:
I think it will be way worse than the PS3 launch. The PS3 flopped initially yet it actually had several selling points going for it (lots of major exclusives, a high-quality Blu-ray player, a genuine technical leap over the PS2...).
In short, I can't see any scenario where the PS6 is a success at launch or even afterwards, particularly if the hardware price doesn't drop.
