Can we make Hurling's Hardest Skill Easier? Torpey Wedge
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gppXkTXFvQ0Not sure if this is serious or not? It's an impressive piece of engineering but presumably (hopefully!) will not see action in an actual game at any point. I think the GAA's Sliotar & Hurley workgroup have generally been concerned with sliotar specifications - seems like this will be something hurl-related for them!

Assume this is just Torpey doing a bit of marketing with the new proposed two point rule

I can see their reasoning, for years keepers swapped hurleys for puckouts, but I would not be in favour of this.

In practice rule 4.26 (Delaying the sideline) could just be enforced unless there is multiple Maor Camán's scattered around the pitch right by where it will be taken. It could work out for a team with no rule change that they get one right in front of the spare hurls but anywhere else on the pitch they can be penalised and it can be thrown in. There's already established limits on how many people can be on the sideline and you could stop Maor Uisce's carrying them for "Health and Safety" (i.e. Why does a waterboy need a hurl???)
So I reckon the rule changes are going to be minimal

I remember Tommy Walsh from Kilkenny used to swap hurleys when taking sidelines so he might have been ahead of his time!

This is the biggest load of bullshit I've seen in a while. Why would you swap hurls for a sideline?

Because it will be worth 2 points if the rule goes through.

So? You don't need a special hurl to cut a sideline over the bar. Didn't need a special.hurl the first time that rule was brought in and you don't need one now.

You don’t need steroids to win the Tour de France either, but it helps a lot

The curved stick blade was introduced to ice hockey back in the '60s and it's one of a handful of things that revolutionized that sport.

I've knocked a few over the bar from 60-70m, no need for a specialized hurl. And I'd imagine these would be stupid expensive. No thanks.

They'll be banned immediately
