General Rip Dr. Bernie

I was really saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Bernie, I had heard many people give their opinions on his classes and was excited to take his parisitology class and am saddened for his family, students, and peers, may his memory be a blessing :(

I didn’t know he passed! I’m so sad 😢 He was my microbiology professor and one of the toughest teachers I’ve had but also the best.

He passed away??? Damn, I’m a nursing student graduating this winter but I had him for Microbiology during my prerequisites. Everyone who had him all used to talk about how hellishly hard his class was but he was also so nice and genuinely wanted everyone to succeed despite it all. Where did you hear about it, did they announce it anywhere? Such a shame……

One of my professors I had last semester chatted with me earlier and she broke the news, the students who took his class didn’t know that he had died until. A few days ago .

As I said before, I don’t want to just sound like a broken record, but I was so excited to take his class and I feel that professors that prepare you for the worst are really good. I think it teaches a lot about how important rigor can be and will prepare someone for some point where things get tough with some regard of thinking either a job or a harder class

That is so sad to hear. He was a really kind man. His class was tough but it REALLY prepared me for my nursing courses. RIP

I was so excited to take his course, my academic rigor is 50/50 but if it’s something I enjoy I can be pushed quite a bit and professors like that have made me a better student, I’ve heard nothing but good things about him as a man and I am so very sad GSU lost such a knowledgeable and kind man

I envy the chance you had to take his class and I’m sure he was proud that his class prepared students to some of the shock that med school is, and made and will make better more competent doctors (which we need )

It's was beautiful, even if it was hard as shit. I gave him a 3D printed COVID virus at the end of the semester

No!!!! I took him for medical microbiology and parasitology! It was a rough year for me, and I remember being so open in his office hours lol and saying I don’t want to be a doctor but I want to do good in this class. He reassured me I would do well, tests literally from the books and wow he curved those grades. I’ve had some bad professors but I deff remember the good ones and he was wonderful. May he rest and may his loved ones have peace.

I hope that GSU adequately gives Dr Bernie credit. He was a licensed and practicing physician and despite that he still chose to teach as well and a lecturer makes a pittance compared to a physician. He did so as he enjoyed teaching and GSU deserves to give him the respect he showed them :(

Dr. B was an amazing professor. Had him for Med Micro, Microbial Path, and Pharm. GSU lost a great one. R.I.P. Dr. B. Thank you so much for teaching me and making me appreciate Micro more, Dr. B. One of the kindest professors out there. He literally knew each of us by name and made an effort to in our classes. Damn. I was so looking forward to Parasitology in the Spring.
