I’ve known my partner for 6 years now and he’s never shaved in that time; he’s always rocked a full comfy beard and stash, only trimming every week or so.

I remember (early on) when I discovered the shape of his upper lip because he accidentally trimmed his mustache too short, and I was somehow shocked to discover he had such a cute upper lip

I don’t think about it that often but I truly can’t imagine his face without 50%+ of it covered in hair, kinda spooks me sometimes when I do think about it (but not in any serious way, I love the man, probably still if he’d have no face at all)

(Sometimes I really wanna use an image generator to find out what his face looks like under there but it feels highly invasive and also fuck AI)

Dinner is butternut squash and feta cheese, I think I’ll blend it for a sauce or a soup

Fyi, if the business survives (which based on the facts that were outted by the part time optional unmasking saga seems unlikely), and you're ever out that way, it is actually a really cool spot. It always has been- I've been during all of the last 3 regimes. I get that some people are bummed out by being asked to mask, but they'll provide one at the door and it's not that big of a deal (imo) (which I think makes it even crazier the way the whole story blew up).

Yes. We did it for years after things were allowed to reopen and before we decided that the majority of the population didn't care about covid anymore. Several venues I was attending at the time had guidelines about this spelled out on their websites/ticketing site and staff to enforce the rule. The covid conscious lesbian bar also has a nice little smoking patio and you can take a mask break out there (most people in Massachusetts don't smoke.)

That just... doesn't make sense tbh. If you're covid-conscious enough to still be masking full-time, I don't see how being in a bar where people are removing them to drink every 30 seconds is any better?

It still reduces the spread of germs by catching most particulates in the mask. It's an imperfect solution but it does still help, especially if there's good ventilation, air filtering, etc.

but the SINGLE mask-optional night a week also benefits disabled people. Deaf and HOH people who rely on reading lips, people with severe asthma, panic disorders, heat intolerance from medications or dysautonomia, sensory issues, auditory processing disorders etc. all are disabled too and struggle in mask required spaces.

the thing about accessibility is that there are times it conflicts with other forms of accessibility. you can’t accommodate every single disability all at once all the time.

Right, but those folks can often go to other venues that exist, where masks aren't enforced? And if they're not ADA compliant then that needs to be addressed.

People with lowered immune systems literally can't go anywhere. My doctors only wear masks in the room with me if they actively have a cough or I ask them to wear one, and one of them got huffy with me. People are still dying and being disabled from COVID and the world just moved on and decided it was done after a few weeks.

I spent about five years trapped at home until I finally said "fuck it" because if society wants me dead I might as well give them what they want? 🤷🏻‍♀️ People couldn't handle masking and staying home two weeks before they were ready to yet themselves out of existence. From 2020 to 2023 the only people who saw my face except my housemate were the folks who did my colonoscopy, and they put a plastic mask over my face almost immediately.

After literally getting harassed for wearing a mask last year, I don't bother masking anymore, but I still barely leave my house. I'd love to have somewhere like that local because I am so fucking lonely all the time.

Like, if the business is failing they need to do what they can to protect their revenue, but let's not pretend it was about accommodating other groups, it was about finances. And that's okay.
