GLOW UP! [18] to [20]
2 years of just locking in. Cleaned up the diet and stayed consistent in the gym. Honestly, the mental shift was even bigger than the physical one

Not just physically, but in almost every aspect of my life! I feel like I've really changed the way I see things, and I'm so happy to be experiencing this transformation. I can't wait to see what happens next š¤
Edit: Thanks, everyone! I really appreciate your comments! And I LOVE the GIFs you post, they really make me laugh š

(Thanks again all. I know, novelty wears off. First age has been adjusted as some photos featured, like the very first one, are indeed from when I was a younger adolescent, before finishing high school. The last photo is from when I was eight, and I hadnāt masculinized then, I just had a juvenile version of the accordant equipment; I find myself ambivalent to say I was āmaleā then even if it was arguable and assumed so as customary.)
Just me in the photos only, as mod-requested. No links either, accordingly.
Original post got shelved for links (including one present in a photo), so you get more photos! āŗļøš«¶š¾ I am only sharing again because I do think it is rather impressive (and poignant), and potentially inspiring.
The body informs so much of how one walks this world. I may have retained smarts to lean on if I had the looks I have now when I was a teenager, and I likely wouldāve had more confidence and ease toward the social. But then it wouldnāt nearly inform the worldly depth and curiousness Iāve thus gained. Iām also largely lesbian-attracted, which is somewhat atypical of a woman who transitioned at the age I did, nineteen ā let alone a Black, or more rightly Nigerian-American woman of this experience. I didnāt really perceive myself as capable of femininity in 2015, desires notwithstanding. Very grateful amid it all. ā¤ļøāš©¹āØ
Also, more mundanely, I changed from glasses to contacts in August. Less mundanely, I was a lower baritone and even bass-baritone at the start of my endocrine metamorphosis⦠thanks to when I started and my at times compulsive relentlessness to train, I sing soprano (and, to lesser extent, contralto) rather capably. I even sang a full operatic recital in May, which as a trans woman I think is in some ways unprecedented. I also spontaneously covered a Radiohead song last month, and I daringly incorporated whistle notes into my rendition. I have many songs & performances (both more modernistic and classical) lurking around the internet, and they tend to be a major plus over my pre-transition singing, though that too had its service. So, a vocal glow-up too. šš„² [Changing or ārestoringā oneās voice is not for everyone, but that was a big, big deal for me.] These can all be found in places, you just have to search for them.
I also lost upwards of twenty pounds in the past year, namely this past summer, since letting go of unwanted psychiatric medication, stress eating, and any alcoholic beverages as I seem to have an intrinsic health-related intolerance to them. This too has greatly aided me, and as a result even against the throes life throws I am by far in the fittest shape and soundness I have been. Instead of looking for it all to end in moments of adversity, I look toward some sort of means to trust and preserve my life because itās far more worthwhile. Inside, out, and beyond.
This year, 2026, was really, after all this time, the first year that I felt securely and confidently as well as nonchalantly that I could say I was a woman far more days and hours than not ā and a beautiful one, at that. (SRS is next fall.)
[the truncated very last photo in this set of ten, taken when I was about eight, proves the mask wasnāt always so vivid, if even there.]
Many thanks to those who commented and liked in prior incarnations of this post. Even up till now. [Hopefully this is the last one!] šāØ

Everyday I feel so thankful I chose to live the life I wanted to, I feel much better about myself now. It was incredibly scary doing this, and I had so much shame about it at first, but I just kept pushing because there was something telling me I'd be so much better off if I did. I almost quit several times but I got through it
4 full years on HRT does a lot

Never growing out my hair to that length again. Short hair was also much easier to manage. I started to work out too, eat healthier foods, start a skincare routine, and build healthy habits.

Focused on my physical and spiritual being, became more career oriented, and surrounded myself with the right energy, very happy with the life I have now :)

Don't think you realise the difference until you look back. 3 years of a consistent skincare routine and eating better, lost about 15kg.

I spent around 3 years in a horrendous, continuous medical crisis that made it hard for me to take care of myself. Before that though, I still struggled severely with mental health challenges, severe self hatred, and undiagnosed autism along with it. The first picture is the only one of my ābeforeā pictures where I was genuinely happy with my appearance and felt okay enough physically to leave the house, up until the one of me in the white hijab. Thatās when I started to finally feel an inkling of liking towards myself after intense therapy.
But over the last year, Iāve lost 65lbs, found an amazing therapist, left a toxic living situation and moved to a whole new STATE all by myself, started uni (so late, I know š), got my autism diagnosis and subsequent help to manage life as an autistic person that has helped immensely, started leaving a religion that hadnāt worked for me from the start, and got the main issue causing my physical health to plummet under control. Iāve gained more of the confidence and self assuredness that younger me was desperate for and Iām actually quite proud of myself? And thatās something I thought Iād NEVER be able to say or feel about any aspect of myself of my life.

Went from a high weight of 213 lbs to 142 lbs today. Started with OMAD and longer fasts some rolling 48s and 72s. Later some 7 day and 6 day fasts. Got down to 167 lbs this March and started tirzepatide. My weight didnāt go straight down lost some weight in 2024 and stopped fasting and gained it back the first half of 2025. I was 200 lbs again the summer of 2025. Then lost weight pretty steadily since then. Recently started beginning calisthenics. Didnāt really work out to lose weight. Oh I also lost and gained weight in 2023 too. According to my Happy Scale app I was about 202 lbs in the first picture (July 8 2024). Second picture taken this past Sunday. I feel a lot better about myself and have a lot more confidence.

Over the past months, Iāve been focusing more on myself, working on my confidence, going to the gym, eating healthier and losing weight. Iāve been trying to improve myself step by step. Iām starting to feel more comfortable in my own skin. Still a work in progress, but Iām proud of how far Iāve come.

150lb -> 170lb (February to October)
I was always very skinny and unhappy with how I looked so I started going to the gym fell in love with it. Been going 4-5 days every week as well as focusing more on what I'm eating and how much I sleep.

Self-confident most of the time, at least! I hope I can maintain my weight.
I started my weightloss-journey a year ago and lost 110lbs without a drug, but with medical assistance and psychological treatment. Also nuitrition played a big part in it. I also learned to include regular exercise and a new outlook on my life.
And certainly a lot of discipline. I really, really hope I can hold onto the things I learned and can maintain the better lifestyle. I feel so much better now and can do so much more! I am fitter and can take on people fintess wise I never dreamed of and it is incredible how weightlifting and endurance impact the day to day life.
It's worth it, even though my body will never look as perfect as social media wants.

I was love bombed. Told everything I wanted to hear to feel loved and safe. Then we got married and everything changed. He started by being rough with me, shoving me, thinking it was playful. It ended with him choking me and pulling out a shotgun. 4 years later I am free of the emotional and physical weigh of him!

I was in a good spot. Until I ended up getting into a relationship. That went bad real fast. I was about 165lbs going into the relationship. I stayed for 5 years and I ended up being about 240-245 by the end of it. I was in the dumps. Decided to focus and love myself again and in the last 14ish months have been able to get down to 192(as of last night). Itās been a journey. Lots of ups and downs, wanting to quit, bad weeks and injuries along the way. I decided to show up for myself anyways. This isnāt the end goal and still a lot of work to be done! But this is more so to remind myself. How far Iāve come and not how much further I still Have to go!

About 230 pounds in the first photo to 176, first was march second was taken yesterday. Eating better (around 1500 to 1700 calories a day) and walking 10 to 15k steps a day.
Goal right now is to get to 160 but so far my health has improved significantly, I was pushing pre diabetes in the first image now my glucose and A1C levels are in a health range alongside the rest of my bloodwork and Iām trying to keep the momentum going of just taking better care of myself
So how we looking?

There's a complicated story on how that happened but I'm not in the mood tonight to explain it, join the airforce instead, San Diego at the small hours of the night is not to be played with, you'll find all sorts of the underworld out there, schizophrenia, ruthless cops, drug addicts, medically compromised people, just being downtrodden in general.

Just wanted to share a three year transformation. Life really gets better when you start prioritizing your mind, body, and overall self care. Itās an amazing feeling to look in the mirror and finally feel like yourself.

I always was pretty petite from like grade school and in my early twenties but then I started to eat better and more consistently and implemented the gym and I now feel like I look way more healthier and feel better. The pictures are a 7 year difference and I think itās been a good 7 years!
r/GlowUps • u/Independent_legend • 10d ago
Pretty much decided to stop drinking and concentrate on me, shaving my head helped with my confidence and all I needed to do was join the gym and that was it, I was hooked!
It amazing what changing just a couple of aspects of your life can actually change, it can be pretty daunting at first but you just gotta jump in and go with it š
Thanks for reading

Iāve lost 55 pounds over the past 13 months with exercise and intermittent fasting/eating in a calorie deficit. Iām still struggling with a bit of body dysmorphia, but can see somewhat of a difference when comparing photos :)

Can i consider this a good glowup? I focused and my skin, good diet and a hairstyle that fits my face. One big thing had been, even if eating unhealthy atlest eat whole foods. Also i am trying to focus on my mental health and understanding myself
