Am I behind?

I have three to four semesters left before my prelim. I have my chair, but I have not started identifying my committee. am I too far behind? my relationship with my chair isn’t the best, and I get so nervous about this stuff.

Likely no, but it depends on what your prelim is, how long it takes your graduate school to process your program of study, etc. Finalized my prelim committee 1 year ago in November and defending almost exactly 1 year later. You can do it!
