What's your biggest satisfaction with GrapheneOS

Yes, a parody to the post earlier today,
What features (aside from generalized privacy/security) do you find the best within GrapheneOS?
Are there any features you begin to take for granted or you couldn't live without on any other devices?

Considering the switch but I have some questions

I know the intended use of this OS is to be extremely privacy oriented. However, I actually do use a good amount of Google services (maps, Android auto, Gmail, YouTube, YouTube music make up the bulk of my Google usage). I understand that those are inherently less private than what most people are using this for. My main desire for (probably) going here is to escape Gemini and other AI garbage that is being added to my phone.

Is this a good reason to switch to Graphene or is Graphene overkill for what I want?

Are there alternatives to these services that I can reliably use without much inconvenience to my daily routine?

Is it easy to go back to the stock OS if for whatever reason Graphene doesn't work out?

Is there anything else I might need to know before making the switch that you wish you knew beforehand?

Blokada blocks all internet?

I'm trying to switch over to Graphene this weekend. I'm just starting out, so I still have a ton of apps from the Google Play Store, and I'd like to block ads on those. On regular Android, I did that with Blokada 5. But when I try to set that up on Graphene, it doesn't seem to work correctly. If I have it set up with the "Block Connections Without VPN" option enabled, every app reports being entirely offline. But if I turn that option off, it reports blocking nothing, and indeed all the ads seem to get through. I've turned off Private DNS, as that seemed incompatible, though the default was Automatic and I didn't have anything configured, so it's unlikely that was the issue anyway. I just can't figure out how to make it function.

Has anyone run into this? Any suggestions about how to get it working?

What is this app?

Post image

When I was checking my mobile data usage, I see this app named 2120344 that had used about 50 megabytes of mobile data. I had no clue what it was, so I went to check my all apps list, but I was unable to find it. Does anyone know what this app is or what it does and why it's using my mobile data on Graphene is?

Help needed with fitness tracking

Hi all

I am trying to find the best way to track my steps specifically to use and sync with the nutracheck app.

The nutracheck app says it sync with Google fit, Samsung health and fitbit, I do not own any smart watches as I thought I could just sync with my phone

What is the best priavcy focused way to do this. I am using a pixel 10a and whilst the Google fit build into the phone tracks my steps I cannot get it to sync up

Limit charging 80% doesn't work

As the title says, limit charging to 80% doesn't seem to work for me on my Pixel 10 Pro anymore.
Since the last two stable updates, it always charges to 100%, with the toggle enabled.
So since multi charging cycles, it has been fully charged.
Anyone got an idea how to fix this?

Pixel 10a, 8gb of ram enough for the next 3 years ?

Hello everyone,

I'd like to know if you think buying a Pixel 10a with 8 GB of RAM will be enough for the next three years before I upgrade my phone ?

I don’t use any RAM-intensive apps, aside from the OS and my VPN (Proton), which still uses about 1 GB of RAM when active, and the operating system, which normally uses about 5,5 GB...

Thanks and have a nice day.

Have a google pixel 7 pro the battery drains even while idle

Bought it used, but haven't flashed graphene OS yet, will the battery get better once I flash graphene OS? It drained 17% while completely idle from 100% to 83% in like 12 hours. But the phone wasn't in use, wifi and bluetooth disabled. Screen time 1 minute. Fresh factory reset.

Pixel 10 with grapheneOS is insanely slow

I changed from Pixel 7 to Pixel 10. Same grapheneOS setup.

Some things on the P10 are insanely slow compared to the older P7.

F.e. printscreen. On P10 it sometimes takes upo to 2-3 seconds from pushing the button combo until something happens.
Or search in the menu. If I type battery, it takes up to 3-4 seconds until suggestions appear.

Opening, navigating and doing things in Apps is NO problem.

Some ideas where to begin with troubleshooting? Or is this normal due google restrictions?

Dumb question

So I have a physical sim on my galaxy s23, I broke my screen and it's a hassle to use it, I have a Google pixel 10a that I haven't downloaded GOS on yet, it's unlocked and ready though.

For other reasons I'm waiting to download it, but I want to switch my physical sim from my galaxy to my Google pixel 10a, will this affect my phone someway? Like lock it or something? Or will all my calls and texts just start going to my Google pixel?

Wanting to port over to visible but waiting until I get paid but need a phone now.

Ittaxi Not Working

Hello, I live in Italy and depend on this app called ITtaxi. I have done the following to try and troubleshoot:

Allowed SMS and phone calls on Google Play Services, Google Play, ITtaxi
Installed Shelter
I enabled "Exploit protection compatibility mode
I ensured that I can receive SMS and WhatsApp from other phone numbers
Restarted the phone after making changes

Can anyone think of anything else I can do to try and get it to work? Thanks.

Browser Recommendations

What is the most secure browser available on GOS that doesn't keep a record of all downloads (even from private tabs) unless you clear storage on it entirely (requiring you to change the settings from default every time you use it). Vanadium would be perfect for it's remarkable security, but unfortunately this behavior disqualifies it for me. I could manually move the download file to a new location then delete each download in the app one by one, but that's too much effort.

Is apk directly installed less private than through sandboxed play?

When I search I find people saying it is more secure to use the sandbox play store, but I don't know of they just mean because the apk could be compromised itself. If I can trust the apk is a direct install better at maintaining privacy? I have not yet logged into a Google account on this phone

Does Graphene have it's own video call service?

Does Graphene have it's own video call service and well does it work calling Google or Apple devices?

If not, how are you video calling family and friends from a Graphene OS device?

Has anyone found a working solution for item tracking or out of range alerts?

Has anyone been able to get some item tracking apps working? Seems like most available today rely on googles Find Hub. Does this work on GrapheneOS with sandboxed google? I was looking to get one for myself and was looking into chipolos tracker. Honestly, if I just can get out of range alerts, that would be enough for me

Adware as spyware

I'm trying to figure out how much or how little Graphene protects us from the recent news about zero-click malware being installed via ad scripts. I use Vanadium, mostly, which doesn't have super robust adblocking, but I imagine does have measures against at least some kinds of script injection? I'm not really informed on that topic. Also not having an advertising ID seems like it would help, at least against being specifically targeted.

Also wondering, if the team reads this, how the news impacts the policy on adblocking functionality in Vanadium, now that it's definitely a security issue.
