Fun Appreciation for Nigella’s way of words

One thing that I noticed is how interesting Nigella describes the flavor or texture of the bakes (or how they should be?). Somehow I feel like I’m reading a book with a nice prose when I hear her talk about food in the show. I watch the show with my wife, and it has become an inside joke for us to say ”Nigella, Queen of Vocab” as we have both learned new words from her (my fave is ebullience).

Help/Question What are you most excited to see in upcoming episode, and do you think Paul will be a bit less brutal after last week's technical?

The flatbread technical last week was painful to watch. When so many bakers struggle with the same challenge, I find it hard not to question the recipe and time limit rather than their ability.

I'm actually looking forward to Dessert Week especially the retro dessert trolley showstopper. Those old-school puddings feel much more in the spirit of Bake Off to me, where the challenge should be getting the basics right and adding your own personality.

The self-saucing pudding signature sounds deceptively simple, though. Getting the sauce and sponge right at the same time is one of those things that can go wrong very quickly. I'd love to see a challenge where the bakers are judged on flavour as much as presentation this week.

Fun Dessert or Pudding, Which do you call it?

• Upvotes

This week is 'Dessert Week', however for all us Brits that can vary depending on where you are. As Gabe points out, Northerner's tend to call it "pudding".

So, which do you call it, pudding or dessert?

I'm a West Midlander, and it's always been "pudding" at home, but "dessert" at restaurants, mainly because that's what's written on the menu, 🤣

[Repost given some snarky comments about the missed 's' in the title.]

Series 12 / Collection 9 The judges are definitely going to be way stricter on presentation tonight. Spoiler

With a theme like Dessert Week, flavour is only half the battle. If a retro trolley looks like a messy buffet at a dodgy pub, Paul is going to tear it to shreds, regardless of how good the pudding tastes.

Help/Question Contestants on new season bake ff

Is it just me? Do the contestants, not to jibe with each other? Like past seasons? I cannot see any of them hanging out with each other, after the show ends.

Meta hey excuse me but

the skill ceiling is on the floor this season. Producers/casting missed the mark and the magic of the show is suffering because of it.

Hands down, hardest season to watch to date.

GBBO Cast Molly

Has Molly ever said why she is in a wheelchair? I loved her on the show and I am sad to see her gone. I noticed on the first episode that she was standing in her wedding photos. Obviously she allowed to keep this private but I was just curious if she ever said what happened. I live in the US so I don’t know if she has been on any shows in UK and spoken about it.
