G2 | Discussion Bugs density

Hey guys, just started a new save few days ago after stopping at the bug race uodate due to lags.

I've seen comments here and on youtube complaining about bugs density being too high. I feel like i am the only one who actually enjoy it. To me it makes the park even more alive and packed in a good way. It also helps that i'm a loot goblin who can't say no to more ressources haha.

A lot of survival game i played had "dead zone" where there is close to no structures no ressources and no monster and i always felt it makes the area incomplete and unalive.

In G2 there is a lot of things everywhere. The fact we are tiny in a park helps packed the map with stuff too, but i never had that feeling in any other game. The night where you barely see in front of you and you get jumped, i just love it. I finally feel like i'm really survivng (until i get to ant club and start annihilate every bugs i see).

I also live that under my base sometime a wolf spider fights 2 scorpions and 1 orb weaver. I get to grab almost free ressources, but the roaming bugs add even more to the games unique feeling.

So far, apart from some bugs and glitches, i have no complains. Props to Obsidian and Eidos Montreal for the amazing job they are doing. Can't wait to see what the 1.0 will be like.

The bug density to me seems mostly logical, in the sense that its a park that was abandoned and overrun, plus with ominents mitts on it prior to the game, they definitely made things worse.

Now in a gameplay way it is still fine mostly but some fights are pretty unfair due to this, just look at the base of the gnarly bark for any indication of this, but using some tactics and making bugs fight bugs, you can still win those fights.

Yeah i usually use bugs or my buggy to take the aggro. For a newer player it might get hard, but i think it makes sense for a survival game to kinda "punish" you if you just run without considering a possible strong encounter.

Also the fact i have hundreds of hours and multiple saves quite help me knowing exactly where bugs are and where they move and how to parry most of their attacks. So encountering multiple bugs add a bit of a challenge. It makes my opinion biased a little bit.

This is true. At the beginning, it made me stay really close to base because I was terrified of orb weavers. Now my base is in gnarly bark and I feel like a king for building there because it has an insane amount of dangerous loot

It’s definitely more a pain at the beginning of the game too, when you’re just starting to explore etc and don’t have great gear and you try and kill ole bug because you need its bits and suddenly you’ve got 3 others jumping you

I enjoy the challenge as well. I actually miss it now. Once you reach tier 5 gear everything that roams the park is easy to kill. I mean the rapier with the vampirism trinket is a cheat code. You don’t even have to block. Just spam attack. I was roaming pumpkin patch the other day got in a 1v4 with earwigs, was too easy. I was actually picking up pumpkin bits in the middle of the fight lol. Then got into a fight with two Wolf spiders, a scorpion and a wasp. Again, too easy. I should not be able to survive those fights without having to block. Started carrying different weapons and trinkets just to make things more interesting.

They said it will be nerfed with the 20 october update. It will be a three hit vonbo then a pause like other weapons and stamina cost might change but this i'm not sure. It will still be strong, but less op. In G1 i used the mosquito rapier with ladybug armor until end game and was unkillable lol.

I still prefer my boom stick and earwig armor for the aoe and style haha.

This and other builds need to be nerfed, imo. I always slow play survival games as I'm average in combat and like to feel a little op when venturing into new areas but some of these builds are ridiculous. I mean I should not be able to casually farm pumpkin bits whilst in a 1v4 with earwigs.

Do you play on Whoa? To me it all depends on the build. If you have a maxed tanky build you can be unkillable, but you miss some offensive perk and deal a bit less damage. Same for my one shit bow build. When i was using it it could one shot a wolf spider, but i needed to ambush it. Same for earwig build where as long as you can parry attacks to boost you, you can fight 5 or 6 strong bugs and 3 kills them in few hits.

As long as the build have a limitation or a condition to respect it can be incredibly strong and i don't mind. The thing with the needle is you can wear any build and don't even need to parry. Even stamina is not a limitation, as long as you spam click you a god.
