Discussion Radio commentators TSN690

Can't watch the game so am listening on the radio and as a fairly new hockey fan absolutely loving it!

Please could someone tell me the names of the commentators on this feed? (TSN690).

Especially one of them keeps giving these little analyses of specific moments and plays, I feel like I'm learning so much listening to him. It's really fun! He just ended the second half commentary by calling the Sabres PP as "vampiric" saying it sucks the life out of them 😆🧛‍♂️

Victor Findlay is play by play and John Goyens is the colour guy.

Such a great vibe listening to the game on radio. Haven't listened to a game on the radio in a while though, when did Sergio leave? I remember seeing him on tv for a couple games but figured they were just one offs

I think he left around the same time that Dan Robertson left for Winnipeg, but I might be wrong.

When they curtailed the radio guys traveling with the team on the road and moved to doing it in a studio watching tv Momo left. Roberson at the same time although he moved onto tv in Wpg. It was about 3 years ago now this might be the 4th since they left.

Sergio was not good. It felt like just a paycheck for him. I like Findlay but his hype calls need some work.

findlay does the play by play but the analysis guy you're talking about is jon goyens, he is great at breaking things down in simple way

Okay thank you yes that's who I meant! It's so much better compared to TV commentary where I feel like most of the time all they do is just read players names

Play-by-Play: Victor Findlay
Color Commentary / Analysts: JP O'Connor, Jon Goyens

I’m not sure who the Color guy is tonight. But O’Connor does most of the games

I think today is Jon Goyens. And OP, it would make sense you're learning a lot, because he's a hockey coach when he's not a colour analyst.

The Habs have the unfortunate luck of their radio play-by-play guys being too good and then moving on to better gigs. John Bartlett did play-by-play in the early 2010 and now he’s a major guy on Sportsnet, Dan Robertson was also really good before he left to do Jets TV. Hopefully Findlay sticks around a bit longer!

We often see Findlay on broadcasts during certain road trips, most notably during the holidays when the main TSN crew is calling the World Juniors

Barts calls most of our SN games.

I do remember tuning into 690 on winter nights with Dan and Sergio. Most radios can pick up an AM signal over 700 kilometres away at night.

I find Bartlett, Robertson, and Findlay all to be too generic and unoffensive. There is literally no edge. It feels like they could host a kids show.

I can’t stand Findlay. He can’t keep up with the game, takes 5 seconds from the fans reacting to figuring out what happens for anything. Sean starr should be doing it instead of the Laval games. He’s so quick with his words.

Granted I had about 5 years of John Bartlett on 690 so I am a bit spoiled

Findlay does not have good hype calls which is a huge negative given radio guys have license to homer it up.
