DMV Confused with car registration?

So I have a bill of landing but it's not being accepted for some reason? Something about needing one for specifically Cali to Hawaii?

But the thing is my BoL has from TX to HI already????

I used a third party to ship over continental to a Cali port and they also used matson so wouldn't have to deal with them.

You should have received a delivery receipt at the port. It is about the size of an index card. The inspector when you picked up the car should have explained that to you.

I remember getting a piece of paper that the guard took to let me out but I don't remember any index card, I'm guessing I just need to go back to the shipping yard and show them the bill of landing to get another one?

Yes, for private shipping it's not a normal bill of lading. It is literally a delivery receipt that looks way different than what a full page bill of lading looks like.
