Game VII - 2026 Game VII 2026 | Build Your Own Game | Phase 2 | Flavour

I kind of hate to say this, but flavour isn’t actually that important. Its fun, but its not really necessary, as evidenced by nobody saying anything about me lifting some flavour directly from the newspaper clippings in the mistborn books (and crediting it that phase) for the mistborn game. That said, it means you have a ton of freedom in how you you want to do your flavour. I’ve done everything from writing little stories related to the game to making up random in universe ads to literally just rambling about game design (hi). Some hosts prewrite their flavour days in advance, and I recommend doing this if you can but it obviously doesn’t work with games where the flavour reflects whats happening. I’ve even seen games elsewhere where all the flavour is written pre-game and is entirely tied to the roles and posted with flips, so the order flavour goes out is effectively random. Really just find something that works for you, you can do whatever. Flavour also generally comes before the meta, at the top, and I’ve found its best to separate it from the meta with a linebreak (3 underscores as a new paragraph)

I am TKAS voting u/bubbasaurus simply because there has been very low discussion so far this phase, unless some good discussion/info comes up.

Im also sus of u/bubbasaurus, but thats cuz i saw her block me last night due to my lovely traits!

So im quite curious if shes town, why she chose to be a role blocker?

Night kill is a role?

Also, does that mean you think I was lying about my Miller trait?

It could be they noticed you picked miller so they figured you used the extra points for a good role and tried to block it maybe?

oh that's hella wolfy. That just convinced me to vote u/bubbasaurus. I'm not big on TKAS votes and I thought just because I don't think blocker is a helpful town role, that it necessarily had to mean likely wolf. Now I realize yeah, blocking the guy who said he took Miller (presumably because he needed the extra point) is decidedly sus. Thanks for spelling it out for those of us who are a bit slow on the uptake today.
Edit: Clarity. Added 'necessarily'. I'm having a bit of a day trying to spit words out. Got up too early.
Second Edit: That sentence still doesn't make sense really. I gave up trying to change it though Easier to explain that I meant I thought just because I don't think blocker helps doesn't mean taking it automatically makes someone a wolf. The main point of it anyway was just to say that blocking wywy was very sketchy and now I want to vote bubba.

No, I agree, that'd probably be why wolves chose to block me, but im asking for town!bubba's reasoning, cuz she would be going for peiple she thinks are wolves, no?

I'm also curious about town!bubba's thought process but see my vote on her until convinced otherwise

Night kill, is actually not a role, but a factional kill.

But there are much better builds that are 4 points or less that dont require you to blindly block people hoping to hit the wolf doing the nk.

Role blocker doesn't really mean anything solid either way in my view. I mean, I probably wouldn't have picked role blocker, but I don't feel like it's necessarily wolfy that someone did. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk messing up other townies but I can't really argue if someone else wanted to try their luck.

I'm kinda mixed as well. While I don't really see town picking role blocker...I don't know if I see wolf picking it either in this setup?

This is one of those "my own personal preferences are blinding to me on what might be readable" things.

/u/bubbasarus could you go a little more into your thought process of how you picked your role beyond "Night kill is a role?" Like, I'm not disagreeing with that, I just find that it's easier to read into if someone's reasoning is genuine or not if it's more fleshed out.

I’m assuming most wolves went with the godfather trait in order to not show up as wolf when checked by seer. So a wolf having 8 points and picking roleblock/godfather would make sense

8

u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26

Based on R&R, wolves only got 6 points yo spend per wolf? So thats arguably not possible.

8

u/sinisterasparaghast she/her Jul 09 '26

I read it as they had a pool of points equal to 6 per wolf, free to spend them however. So maybe 8 on one and fewer on others?

I don't even know how to guess at the number of wolves altogether though, with roles being determined after affiliations were already assigned

9

u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26

Oh you’re right. Idk where I got 8 from

10

u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26

I thought the wolf roles said 8 not 6.

10

u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26

I’ll hop on this

9

u/DirtyMarTeeny Jul 09 '26

Roleblocker could also block the kill or any other wolf actions. It's one of the cheaper rolls that can still be useful.

Since you're already sharing pretty much everything about your role choices how many points did you start out with?

7

u/bigjoe6172 Jul 09 '26

I definitely feel like we shouldn't be sharing points. I think knowing town points benefits the wolves more than it does us.

9

u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26

I started out with 2

9

u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26

Absolutely not, lolol.

9

u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26

I will not be sharing my starting point amount at this moment.

Very interesting. I'd like to hear the answer to that.
