Game VII - 2026 Game VII 2026 | Build Your Own Game | Phase 2 | Flavour
I kind of hate to say this, but flavour isn’t actually that important. Its fun, but its not really necessary, as evidenced by nobody saying anything about me lifting some flavour directly from the newspaper clippings in the mistborn books (and crediting it that phase) for the mistborn game. That said, it means you have a ton of freedom in how you you want to do your flavour. I’ve done everything from writing little stories related to the game to making up random in universe ads to literally just rambling about game design (hi). Some hosts prewrite their flavour days in advance, and I recommend doing this if you can but it obviously doesn’t work with games where the flavour reflects whats happening. I’ve even seen games elsewhere where all the flavour is written pre-game and is entirely tied to the roles and posted with flips, so the order flavour goes out is effectively random. Really just find something that works for you, you can do whatever. Flavour also generally comes before the meta, at the top, and I’ve found its best to separate it from the meta with a linebreak (3 underscores as a new paragraph)

Ok, so two votes that I've been considering.
/u/DirtyMarteeny because I don't like the whole asking about points thing. Just feels like wolfy fishing for info.
/u/bubbasaurus I wasn't initially too concerned about the blocker thing, but this is kind of making sense to me. I didn't really consider the potential implications of blocking the miller previously and just wrote it off as bubba thinking wywy lied but this gives a good reason why a wolf might be block them as well. Plus, bubba hasn't given any sort of explanation as to why she did target wywy which doesn't really help.
Of the two, I think I'm going to go for bubbasaurus.

u/Sameri278 Jul 09 '26
i'm gonna switch my vote to u/bubbasaurus to try and form a consensus (but also bc i find the arguments against her compelling)
6
u/redpoemage Jul 09 '26
Changing my vote to /u/bubbasaurus for the lack of response to this. In an abscence of additional information and given time to stew, my mind teeter-totter teeters towards twolf (let's just pretend wolf begins with t for the sake of aliteration...)

/u/Chefjones when you get a chance please can you take a look at modqueue? I got a tag on my phone from /u/Sameri278 earlier which I believe called me a slimy owl (fondly of course - I think LOL), likely in response to this yesterphase. But I can't see it on my phone now and I don't see it anywhere in the sub. Maybe the 'play nice' filters grabbed it? If so can I kindly have it back please? I promise I'm entertained rather than offended by his attempt to vilify my most pure and wholesome owlness.

Did you make a big comment/reply to me about my bubba sus? I coulda sworn I just saw in /comments, but i just refreshed the actual phase and now its gone.
8
u/HedwigMalfoy Not an evil owl. Usually. Jul 09 '26
I replied to Mercury about being sus of bubba after he pointed out why a wolf might've blocked you. I might have mentioned you but I think I only tagged bubba because I was talking about her. Reddit is evidently being rather fucky today.

this is censorship
but also I see it here https://www.reddit.com/r/HiddenWerewolves/s/7fckVhtXlu

Right probably because it's your comment. But when I click that link, it takes me to a page that says "There does not seem to be anything here." It's a clear case of anti-bird discrimination.

I don't think that we have heard from u/bigjoe6172 or u/redpoemage this phase (unless I've missed anything.)

I’m going to put my vote in for /u/DirtyMarteeny. It’s slight, but asking someone’s point amount seems a lil sus to me. But as it’s like Day 2 there’s really not much to go off of.
8
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
What are your thoughts on bubba?
8
u/StartledKoala34 Koala, She/Her Jul 09 '26
By its self, I don't think that picking role blocking is suspicious. If u/bubbasaurus were to be voted out and ended up being town, I guess that could give us a slight lead on u/wywy4321 but even then, that wouldn't be super strong either.
3
u/Sameri278 Jul 09 '26
btw u/hedwigmalfoy you were quoting me you slimy owl (https://www.reddit.com/r/HiddenWerewolves/comments/1uqb1jf/comment/owdu6yn/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

7
u/Sameri278 Jul 09 '26
u/mercuryparadox why did you vote papo?
8
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
Also why specifically me out of the other 9 people who voted papo?
6
u/Sameri278 Jul 09 '26
ah i didn't see that your declaration was a reply to your reasoning. i asked you specifically because you were the second person to declare a vote against him, which i think is an easy spot for wolves to hide in.
anyway, i'm not sure i really buy your reasoning. first, role seer is only 5 points, not 8. but to your other point, i feel like papo just kind of says wild shit sometimes and it's never really indicative of alignment. also you saying that not all millers should claim gives you an avenue to claim miller later on if you come up wolf. so i'm gonna go ahead and put in a vote for you
8
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
>role seer is 5 not 8
I know that. I’m saying I thought them saying “most town would be able to afford it” was them having 8 points so they wouldn’t know how many points the average town would have
Also I stand by my reasoning that all millers shouldn’t claim. There’s role seers that can check if someone chose miller or not. However if everyone who chose miller came out and said “i chose miller” Then the wolves would start shooting into the ones who didn’t choose miller and make the seer useless bc everyone would show up as wolf
Also I can confirm myself as town so I wouldn’t vote me lol
6
u/redpoemage Jul 09 '26
Also I can confirm myself as town so I wouldn’t vote me lol
Are you claiming Innocent Child? That's how this reads to me since I don't think any other role can self-confirm as town.
9
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
I explained [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/HiddenWerewolves/s/ts9ANm6vjS) when I declared my vote
8
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
ok reddit formatting just doesn’t want to work for me I guess
7
u/ISpyM8 he/him Jul 09 '26
It's super annoying you have to use the "Aa" thing now to format everything. None of the shortcuts work anymore.
7
u/Dangerhaz Jul 09 '26
My initial town lean list:
ChickenNuggets and Wywy - a Miller claim is a risk for a wolf on Day 1 as a Role seer check immediately disproves a false claim. Will reevaluate as I see more but good enough for a Day 2 town lean
Mercury - generally townie vibes and I feel like I can see them thinking through things
7
u/Dangerhaz Jul 09 '26
I have a question mark around/for u/redpoemage. Maybe this is out-of-date meta but my old RPM wolf tell is how helpful you are in terms of giving strategic advice around rules. And I've noticed that you've been pretty silent in that regard in this game That may be unfair based on your previous comment about being "retired", but I do see a difference, especially for such a mechanical role set-up. Are you taking a different approach to normal?
7
u/redpoemage Jul 09 '26
It's a mix of being a bit out of date (I've definitely decreased in activity after "retiring") and work being extra busy during this game not really leaving me good time for WWing during the workday (like, I've had enough time to see "oh I got a ping!" but not really enough to actually catch up and reply in a satisfactory manner so I just save it for after work).
I've also had a bit of trouble thinking of good strategies that aren't counterable by wolves if the strategy is known. Chef did a good job of including possible counters for all kinds of roles in the setup options.

u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
I had a small suspicion on /u/RedPoeMage yesterday for very very VERY thin reasons. When rpm [replied](https://www.reddit.com/r/HiddenWerewolves/s/NrmKyyQ8cQ) to my schrödinger’s bluff, my gut initially told me it was a wolf saying that to act town but there is 100% a possibility that they are just town and giving general advice because I do agree with the advice— town probably shouldn’t out their point amount. probs the most pull out of thin air reason but my gut just tells me things sometimes and I just ate a klondike bar so it’s filled with yummy treats
6
u/redpoemage Jul 09 '26
but my gut just tells me things sometimes and I just ate a klondike bar so it’s filled with yummy treats
Have you considered you might be ever so slightly lactose intolerant and that is giving the wolfy gut vibes?
8
u/StartledKoala34 Koala, She/Her Jul 09 '26
I think I'm a little confused, would you be able to clarify? You agree with RPMs statement that town shouldn't out point amount. (I agree with it as well.), but what was the very thin reason for suspicion then if you agree with them?
8
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
I agree it’s good advice but my gut is telling me that it’s a wolf pretending to be town by offering good advice.
8
u/StartledKoala34 Koala, She/Her Jul 09 '26
Ahh okay gotcha. Thanks for the clarification!
9
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
I guess it’s like, I don’t expect any town to actually give out their real point info so it kinda looks like just stating the obvious
8
u/StartledKoala34 Koala, She/Her Jul 09 '26
I’m picking up what you’re putting down. Like *if* RPM was a wolf, the statement would be performative.
7
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
Yes. I do think bubba is a better vote for today based on wywy’s info on them picking a roleblocking role
8
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
this being said I will not be voting on rpm this phase but I will be side eying them until my gut is satisfied with the results… this is your warning rpm… i am watching you
5
u/redpoemage Jul 09 '26
No warning needed, people are always watching me 😎
(I love WW because I can say silly things like that which I'd be far too self-concious to say in real life)
8
u/ChickenNuggets6827 Jul 09 '26
I am TKAS voting u/bubbasaurus simply because there has been very low discussion so far this phase, unless some good discussion/info comes up.
8
u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26
Im also sus of u/bubbasaurus, but thats cuz i saw her block me last night due to my lovely traits!
So im quite curious if shes town, why she chose to be a role blocker?
8
u/bubbasaurus rawr Jul 09 '26
Night kill is a role?
8
u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26
Also, does that mean you think I was lying about my Miller trait?
9
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
It could be they noticed you picked miller so they figured you used the extra points for a good role and tried to block it maybe?
6
u/HedwigMalfoy Not an evil owl. Usually. Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
oh that's hella wolfy. That just convinced me to vote u/bubbasaurus. I'm not big on TKAS votes and I thought just because I don't think blocker is a helpful town role, that it necessarily had to mean likely wolf. Now I realize yeah, blocking the guy who said he took Miller (presumably because he needed the extra point) is decidedly sus. Thanks for spelling it out for those of us who are a bit slow on the uptake today.
Edit: Clarity. Added 'necessarily'. I'm having a bit of a day trying to spit words out. Got up too early.
Second Edit: That sentence still doesn't make sense really. I gave up trying to change it though Easier to explain that I meant I thought just because I don't think blocker helps doesn't mean taking it automatically makes someone a wolf. The main point of it anyway was just to say that blocking wywy was very sketchy and now I want to vote bubba.8
u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26
No, I agree, that'd probably be why wolves chose to block me, but im asking for town!bubba's reasoning, cuz she would be going for peiple she thinks are wolves, no?
7
u/sinisterasparaghast she/her Jul 09 '26
I'm also curious about town!bubba's thought process but see my vote on her until convinced otherwise
9
8
u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26
Night kill, is actually not a role, but a factional kill.
But there are much better builds that are 4 points or less that dont require you to blindly block people hoping to hit the wolf doing the nk.
7
u/bigjoe6172 Jul 09 '26
Role blocker doesn't really mean anything solid either way in my view. I mean, I probably wouldn't have picked role blocker, but I don't feel like it's necessarily wolfy that someone did. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk messing up other townies but I can't really argue if someone else wanted to try their luck.
8
u/redpoemage Jul 09 '26
I'm kinda mixed as well. While I don't really see town picking role blocker...I don't know if I see wolf picking it either in this setup?
This is one of those "my own personal preferences are blinding to me on what might be readable" things.
/u/bubbasarus could you go a little more into your thought process of how you picked your role beyond "Night kill is a role?" Like, I'm not disagreeing with that, I just find that it's easier to read into if someone's reasoning is genuine or not if it's more fleshed out.
10
u/MercuryParadox Jul 09 '26
I’m assuming most wolves went with the godfather trait in order to not show up as wolf when checked by seer. So a wolf having 8 points and picking roleblock/godfather would make sense
8
u/wywy4321 Jul 09 '26
Based on R&R, wolves only got 6 points yo spend per wolf? So thats arguably not possible.
8
u/sinisterasparaghast she/her Jul 09 '26
I read it as they had a pool of points equal to 6 per wolf, free to spend them however. So maybe 8 on one and fewer on others?
I don't even know how to guess at the number of wolves altogether though, with roles being determined after affiliations were already assigned

u/DirtyMarTeeny Jul 09 '26
Roleblocker could also block the kill or any other wolf actions. It's one of the cheaper rolls that can still be useful.
Since you're already sharing pretty much everything about your role choices how many points did you start out with?
7
u/bigjoe6172 Jul 09 '26
I definitely feel like we shouldn't be sharing points. I think knowing town points benefits the wolves more than it does us.

7
u/Sameri278 Jul 09 '26
lol i also got caught up in stuff and wasn't able to check back in until now (thus my placeholder for u/hedwigmalfoy). i'm not sure i feel that papo's stuff was necessarily alignment indicative? although it's not like i would've had a better vote option
9
u/DirtyMarTeeny Jul 09 '26
Alright. I don't think claiming miller is alignment indicative. It's unsurprising that people chose it for the extra points, and it would make sense to come forward claiming it both for town and for wolves.

I took a PHAT nap when I got home from work, so I didn’t get to contribute to the discussion at the end there, but I set my vote on ElPapo a little earlier this afternoon (Eastern US for the record so a few hours ago).

This comment also reminds me of Hydroxyzine naps. You can't panic if you're asleep.

10
u/MercuryParadox Jul 08 '26
my main two town reads are /u/ispym8 and /u/dangerhaz
8
u/StartledKoala34 Koala, She/Her Jul 09 '26
I can look through last phase again as well but what makes you say that? (Only out of curiosity, not because I disagree.)
10
u/sinisterasparaghast she/her Jul 08 '26
I placeholder'd you cause I'm getting town!mercury vibes so far and figured you wouldn't be in danger of others piling on if I missed the rest of the phase (as I inevitably did)
I agree with dangerhaz, as pointing that out to town would be bad for wolves. And a wolf could merely point it out to their fellows in their sub and hope that town wouldn't catch it
11
u/ISpyM8 he/him Jul 09 '26
That… makes a lot of sense. I wouldn’t have made that connection for Dangerhaz.
8
u/ISpyM8 he/him Jul 09 '26
So people can refer back to my reasoning, which I now feel way more confident in, this whole thread makes bubba look awful
