Actual German reaction: "You have attacked the US? Finally, our battle will be legendary!"
Germany was already convinced the US would intervene eventually, being involved in what was rapidly becoming a shooting war in the Atlantic between the US Navy and German submarines: in four separate incidents, the USS Greer was fired upon while hunting a U-boat, the USS Kearny was damaged by a German torpedo, and the USS Reuben James and SS Robin Moor were both sunk. Equally, they were convinced by their ideology that the degenerate mongrel democracies of the West would not be able to muster significant resistance: Britain was being battered to pieces on their own island, and the US was still further away, a corrupt, decadent, and Jewish-dominated nation further weakened by its large immigrant and black population. Far from being upset, Germany thought it was the perfect time to finish the job, which is why they immediately declared war within a week of Pearl Harbor.
