Average balkan experience. Plus a few songs glorifying the whole thing.

In a weird way, I have some respect for the people who own it rather than downplay it.

Pro tip: You can switch between these four however often you like to confuse people.

literally the narcissist’s prayer: That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did... You deserved it.

Either that or just cowards who don't want to address current world atrocities because it's 'political,' or whatever.

When thousands of children are being mass murdered, there is no fence to sit on.

Well unlike other countries, people who witnessed Mongol invasions are long dead.

You left off the last phase. "It never happened, but we would like to continue it"

meanwhile, Tiglath-Pileser I of Assyria: "The bodies of their warriors in destructive battle... I overthrew. Their corpses I spread over the valleys and the high places of the mountains. Their heads I cut off: at the sides of their cities I heaped them like mounds."

It happened but we traded the information on how best to treat a frostbite for immunity and denied it ever happened (some still do), but then some people wanted accountability so now we kinda acknowledge it but still won't admit fault.

The new one is: if 3% of the population is really a genocide then all of the wars this other country made is also a genocide, then you said of course.

USSR Vs. ??? Vs. Isreal Vs. Japan I dont know wht country to put for accident cause how do you be war criming by accident?
7
u/SPECTREagent700 Definitely not a CIA operator 12h ago
The accident excuse is used by some Holodomor deniers, they’ll acknowledge that mass starvation occurred but deny that it was intentional.
Some Holocaust denial does this too; Otto Ernst Remer, a former Wehrmacht officer, claimed that the mass killings of Jews was carried out by over enthusiastic Eastern European civilians without direction from German forces and others like American feminist/atheist/antisemite/murder victim Madalyn Murray O'Hair would assert the death camps were just holding facilities and the deaths that occurred were the fault of Allied bombing and/or starvation which was also the fault of the Allies.

Holocaust denial was the big inspiration for this meme, specifically how people minimize the numbers or claim queer people weren't targeted.

I think people need to leave twitter. I have had the fortunate experience to never encounter such a… specific form of holocaust denial. How do you even get into a conversation like that? If somebody sits down next to me and says that the Nazis drew the line specifically at queers I am running away from the crazy man talking to me in public.

u/No-Antelope575 10h ago
How it works is as holocaust apologetics because they immediately hyper focus on the Soviets to convince themselves everyone was doing it the same, as if the refugee flow wasn't in one specific direction

I've legit had tankies tell me that during the mass famines the only people who were murdered were greedy rich people hoarding food, so you know, it was fine. (Obviously they were wrong)

u/PuzzledAnimator9998 11h ago
and all the people who say it didn't happen also say that it should have.

This also applies for people who do apologilia for the murders of the Argentine military Dictatorship
"Torture didn't happen, It wasn't 30K and only communist terrorists were targetted."

"It didn't happen but if it did happen (which it didn't) it was justified!"

One of my favorite moments in dan carlins supernova of the east. What is when they were discussing war criminals at the end of the war. And a Japaneae newspaper had kept track of how many people (mostly POWs) these 2 Japanese officers had decapitated with their swords. And the defense was, it wasn't nearly that many, they were exaggerating the numbers 😂
