I'm crying. Autosiphon wouldn't siphon and stirred up al the yeast. https://imgur.com/a/fFHbp4B

It sounds ghetto but it works great for me...
Instead of using an autosiphon, which ive never had any luck with, i just use the standard siphon tube with a hose attached going to the keg. However, ive cut a small hole into a standard #6.5 bung where i can fit a small piece of tubing. I just blow a bit into the small tube and the positive preasure forces the beer into the siphon tube. It starts flowing with a surprisingly small blow. Never had any issues with infection or anything.

I do this as well, except I use one of the orange carboy caps with two holes. Same thing though.

Great idea. This technique is called the Sterile Siphon Starter ... well it would be sterile if you were blowing into the carboy through a syringe filter to start the siphon. Northern Brewer, MoreBeer, and NorCal Brewing Solutions (R.I.P.) are among the ones that used to sell the full setup with a syringe filter.

tried making my first batch of mead last weekend and completely forgot about it until wednesday when i walked past the fermenter. was expecting disaster but actually looks pretty decent so far, just bubbling away happily in corner of my room. guess sometimes the best brewing happens when you're not obsessing over every little detail lol
anyone else have those accidental success stories or am i just getting lucky here?
