What is your batch size?

Just reading another post in HBing and noticed how ppl either don’t like a 5 gallon batch (prefer smaller) and others think it’s a perfect standard size. Personally I go 8-10 depending what style I’m making.

3 kegs per batch

1.5BBL per batch is quite significant for home brewing. Are you trying to cut over to production brewing? Or did you mean 3 sixtels? (Which is also a lot)

Thank you for the clarification! That is still quite the volume :)

Maybe, I like fermenting in kegs and experiment with different yeast, lager and test dry hops

There are a few different sizes of kegs. 15.5 gallons specifically a half barrel keg. There are also pony kegs, quarter kegs, and sixtels. Many sizes of kegs.

If you were working in a restaurants you might assume “keg” unqualified is a half a barrel.

Here on the homebrew sub, it’s reasonable to assume “keg” unqualified to be a 5 corny keg. It seems to be overwhelmingly the most common size and style. I think people will usually specify if it’s not 5 gallons, but of course it’s never wise to assume.

Although some use sixtels for homebrewing, it seems most use corny kegs.

Edited: to be educational and respectful in tone.

I did not know what they meant. I have met people who brew large enough batches for 1/2BBL, I use sixtels for my home brews, and others use corny kegs.

So, I think two faulty assumptions were made, here. Three, if we count yours: that everyone here knew.

You are absolutely correct. I apologize for making that assumption and not assuming you had good intentions. I have edited my post to be simply respectful and educational and remove all snark and meanness. That’s how I should have approached it.

I am sorry for that, again. Your comment did not deserve my original response. I appreciate how you responded, well done.
