If you would like this roundup sent to your reddit inbox every week send me a message with the subject 'homebrewing'. Or if you want a daily roundup, use the subject 'homebrewing daily' (<--Click one of the links. The bot can't read chats, you must send a message).

Please let me know if you have suggestions to make this roundup better for /r/homebrewing or if there are other subreddits that you think I should post in. I can search for posts based off keywords in the title, URL and flair - sorted by upvotes, # of comments, or awards. And I can also find the top comments overall or in specific threads.

I use dry malt and hops pellets when brewing. A friend has a flowering hops plant and has invited me to harvest some for brewing, yay! (I don't know the variety.)

Say I use 250g of hops pellets for a fav recipe. How much real hops do I use instead of the pellets? Of course there will be differences in the alpha acids, etc., just assume it's the same hops variety.

(And is there a non-alcoholic beer that doesn't taste like burnt cardboard? Asking for a friend.)

I grew some hops, long ago. I planted the rhizomes, so I knew that they were Cascade. Part of the tricky bit, that you already have identified, is that you will have no idea what the alpha acid content is, etc. So what I did is add them at flameout for aroma. My process was to add a "bunch" as the weight and everything was just so different with homegrown dried hops. It came out well. Give it a shot!

Also note that "wet" (fresh) hops are a whole different ballgame.

Ah geeze, I didn't even think about fresh (wet) vs dried. Hmm. Most likely they will be freeze-dried, since I won't use them immediately.

Thanks. Sounds like I need to just 'wing it'.
