• Upvotes

Ive been getting into mountain biking and have checked out a few trails around hong kong so far. I've read about tai lam country park being a good area to ride in,but online it says I might need a permit. Is it mandatory and how would I get one quickly?

Also if there is anyone else that might be up to ride along Id love to sort out a group ride.

Disneyland HK/Ocean Park Anyone know why some HK Disney rides are semi broken at the minute??

Hello all, went to Disney the other day and on 4 different rides we were stopped for 5-10 minutes while a message played over the speakers saying that a brief delay had been encountered and that the ride would resume again shortly. Now, the wait time isn't an issue in the long run (and frankly idc about having to wait a little bit) but I've never experienced this before at Disney. One of the rides that this happened on was its a small world, which went on pause BOTH times I was on it. I understand that it's an older ride, so whatever. But the Frozen Blue Cross water ride (don't remember the name) was stopped as well, and that is significantly newer. Anyone know what is going on??

Questions/ Tips Donating Encyclopaedia Britanica?

I’m helping my elderly parents downsize and while I have cleared out a lot of old books and CDs, they have a full 1988 set of Encyclopaedia Britanica I have to get rid of. That’s 34 books.

I know they are obsolete, but it’s such a handsome set, I’m loathe to chuck them in recycling and I don’t think the book swap shelf will want to take them.

Does anyone have any ideas of where they can go?

Or does anyone want them? Free to a good home, haha!

Discussion Help me find a packaged donut I bought in Hong Kong in 2022! 🍩

I'm trying to find a packaged donut snack that I bought in 2022 at Fresh Supermarket in Amoy Plaza, Kowloon Bay. I lived there for 1 year and I bought them at least once a week.

Here's what I can remember:

- It was in the bread section, near the madeleines.

- It wasn't freshly baked or from the bakery counter. It was a packaged product with a relatively long shelf life.

- It came in a big package, with each donut individually wrapped inside.

- I vaguely remember the donuts having yellow and brown coating or icing. The flavours might have been banana and chocolate, but I'm not 100% sure.

- I don't think it was a Chinese brand. The brand name might have sounded French or European, but I could be misremembering.

Unfortunately, I can't remember what the packaging looked like or what the brand was called. I know this isn't much to go on, but does anyone remember seeing something like this in Hong Kong supermarkets around 2022?

If you have any ideas or pictures of possible matches, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!!

Discussion Dogs unleashed

Why are so many big dogs off leashes? Was in Sai Kung this morning and a guy was walking 5-6 big dogs off leash. When his dogs approached me I asked him to call his dogs back and he got aggressive saying you can have dogs off leashes in a country park (we were in Lions Education Centre which is run by AFCD but not a country park).

Why is this acceptable? I was attacked by a dog as a kid and consequently I’m scared of dogs. Two people have already been killed by dogs in Hong Kong this year.

Travel Luggage collection locations in Kowloon

Hey! Hopefully someone here can help. My luggage won't be arriving until tomorrow because the airline left it in Beijing, they're offering a hotel delivery but the place I'm staying can't receive luggage. Is there any addresses you can get luggage delivered to for pick up? Preferably near Nathan Road area.

Thanks!!

Consider a woman was set to the insane asylum for 3 months just for displaying some flags that are allegedly subversive, you wouldn't want to be hoisting anything that has a union jack with the word "Victory" on it.

HKID Born in HK to Chinese parents but since moved abroad. Eligible for HKSAR passport?

Just asking out of curiosity since I have no need for one. I was born in Hong Kong (to Hong Kong parents) but we immigrated to the US when I was a toddler, and since naturalized as US citizens. Since then I consider the US my home (with a US passport) but we all still retain a HKID (with three stars) which I understand makes us Chinese nationals and eligible for Hong Kong passports.

However I've also heard that, while there's no issue with retaining the HKID, there's a statement on the passport application that would require me to state that I have no other nationality besides Chinese, which is incorrect in my case. Does this mean I'll be unable to get a HKSAR passport as long as I'm a dual citizen?

This is a smart glasses company from Hnagzhou. Check it out: it's a pretty cool store. Are you in the market for smart glasses? I see they are selling well but I dont see anyone in HK wearing them except maybe content creators.

Discussion Need Hotel Recommendation in TST

My wife and I are planning a 7 day trip to Hong Kong in November. Few stays we have shortlisted are (all near TST or Jordan station):

- B P International

- Empire Hotel Kowloon-Tsim Sha Tsui

- Kimberley Hotel

Our budget is around 900 to 1000 HKD but would prefer a stay from where all major touristy things are nearby as well good city vibes. Can you help me choosing such a stay and if anyone has any experience of the properties mentioned, would appreciate a review of those. Thanks.

Questions/ Tips Gifts from US/Canada to relatives and Hong Kong

I wasn't born in Hong Kong but I used to travel back every year as a kid. It's been 10 years since I last been so I'm a bit nervous meeting my large family from my mom's side and want to leave a good impression. What can I get from US or Canada that people would actually want. There's people of all ages from kids to elderly. I know people say to go to Costco but I don't know what to get specifically.

I tried going to trader Joe's but they didn't have the totes and I also don't know if they are still popular. Any suggestions including trendy brands that Hong Kong people might like that is popular over there would be greatly appreciated!
