Original glass
What are you guys doing with the original glass shelves when you use acrylic shelves instead?
I might use them as free floating shelves in a different room. But im curious if anyone has a more clever idea.
Thanks!
Pic: Milsbo tall conversion in progress; acrylic shelves & lights should arrive next week.

Saving it until someone posts about needing it here.
Every now and then you’ll see someone trying to hunt down the original glass shelving.

I stored mine in the garage in case I ever decide to sell it or give up the idea of keeping plants in there.

If you have others the same size you could use them for building a custom aquarium/terrarium.
Might need to buy more on the ikea website, its not too expensive i think

I think you're underestimating how difficult it is to do this, it's not worth the effort and probably wouldn't save any money anyways

Your right probably. I saw some guys on youtube doing it with other glass shelves from ikea

Yeah, it's only worth it to do custom stuff when you can't buy what you want off the shelf. It's a little more involved than building a tank but I replaced the front piece of glass on a custom tank and made aluminum trim for it back in high school. I'd need a really good reason to do that again, it was a pain in the ass

The mislbro has chamfered corners making this virtually impossible. The shelves are also tempered, which means they can not be cut.

Oh, didnt know about the rounded corners.
But not being able to cut it doesnt have to be a problem, if you find fitting glass planes the right size (eg for the sides)

I use them as glass toppers on desks and tables. This is the one on my work desk. I keep stickers underneath it.
