i… i have no words. genuinely shocked as to how good that shit is - the librarian makes kingpin look like a god damn FRAUD

7

u/Karstaagly May 04 '26

And if you can believe it, I think that volumes two and three are better by far.

5

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

oh you bet your bottom dollar i’m gonna buy those next two 🫡

The actual fights and story? Yes. I'd say the art did get worse.

u/luckygitane May 03 '26

Tradd Moore is the goat

17

u/MrSuitMan May 04 '26

I just finished Silver Surfer Black and Dr Strange Fall Sunrise and loved those. Looks like Luthor Strode is next on my to read list

The New World and his issue of Zero are key too. I wish Ales Kot was still making comics so they'd work together more

1

u/LondoTacoBell May 06 '26

Ales Kot is done with comics? Noooooooo!

1

u/luckygitane May 06 '26

Well seemingly lol it's been many years since they've published anything I think

15

u/BlueAndean May 04 '26

Name?

Strange Talent of Luther Strode

8

u/BlueAndean May 04 '26

Thank you kindly!

5

u/stoooflatooof May 04 '26

You’re in for a treat. OP is right, it’s crazy good

6

u/BlueAndean May 04 '26

I bought it on my kindle yesterday as soon as you replied the title lol. Sooo good.

18

u/Zenlenn May 03 '26

It's genuinely one of the best examples of what comics can do as a medium. The next two volumes are extraordinary.

10

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

like it’s right up there with something is killing the children in terms of reinventing the wheel and not holding back on anything, they’re a separate medium of art but hollywood could sincerely learn a thing or two from these indie comics/makers

7

u/shinsplint_v May 04 '26

If you like Tynion the Nice House series is also fantastic, as is Dept. of Truth

10

u/Eternalm8 May 03 '26

I need to re-read it. It's pretty amazing.

2

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 03 '26

please do, man🙏

6

u/Prof-Ponderosa May 04 '26

I keep saying this but THIS is the series that should *faithfully* be adapted after Invincible.

Tradd Moore’s art style is 😍😍😍😍😍

2

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

jesus lord i couldn’t agree more

4

u/Kalwest May 04 '26

Let’s make a loud enough buzz that it’ll happen. Kirkman has said he wants US comics to follow the manga/anime route.

6

u/writinglegit2 May 04 '26

Good stuff.  Petra gets a bit annoying as it goes but otherwise no notes on the series if you like a bit of ultra violence

5

u/tgrudi May 04 '26

Tradd Moore is GOAT

5

u/Practical_Calendar87 May 04 '26

Super fucking sick comic, happy to see more people appreciate!

3

u/keithfosterkid May 04 '26

As hard as this goes the next two Volumes GO HARDER

3

u/Luisrm0221 May 04 '26

I picked up the entire run but my favorite was the complete hardcover. It’s incredible. Also has a ton of additional art and insight. First letter from Jordan to Tradd also, super cool stuff. Tradd’s progression as an artist from series to series was awesome to behold.

2

u/lone_float May 04 '26

Violence in all the awe and absurdity.

or to put it another way "HELL YEA BROTHER!"

2

u/LockGlobal7394 May 04 '26

Hopefully someday we can get a live action or animated series on this!

3

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

i’m gonna hold this on record and say that an animated film or a telltale series would suffice for a good adaptation

2

u/LockGlobal7394 May 11 '26

That would be so dope to have a telltale series of Luther Strode!

2

u/crowinghorse13 May 04 '26

Get the Deluxe Complete Series HC - you won't regret it

2

u/Luisrm0221 May 04 '26

Second this!

2

u/Mistervimes65 May 04 '26

Magnificent book.

2

u/cjc1303 May 04 '26

Probably to this day still my favorite comic book series. Happy to grab a commission of Luther from Tradd and a piece from each series. Probably couldn’t afford his art these days.

2

u/JuvenJapal May 04 '26

Pretty sure this is buried in my Humble Bundle library. Guess it's time to add it to the "to read" queue.

2

u/Broadnerd May 04 '26

Sounds awesome. Thanks for making me aware of it! Pretty much everything I read is from here or r/graphicnovels lol. I’ve had great luck though.

2

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

You are very welcome! Check out “Troyoboyo17” on youtube he does videos on everything comic book related and is why i found luther strode in the first place ✅

2

u/Tiger_jay May 04 '26

Loved it. I forgot all about it. Time for another read.

2

u/MrAnansi528 May 04 '26

It's so good. I have the Omnibus

2

u/ron_tonto May 04 '26

I've had it sitting on a shelf for a year, I'm finally going to pull it out and start reading it tonight!

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

That’s the spirit! Happy reading!

2

u/jamiemm May 04 '26

It gets better as it goes.

2

u/Wide-Tart4132 May 04 '26

You’re in for a great time. One of my favorites oat and each book gets better and crazier than the last. Once you finish and you want more of that artist (Tradd Moore) read Silver Surfer Black, it’s probably his peak.

2

u/skagrabbit May 04 '26

You may also like nailer biter you like a bit of ultra violence

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

Thanks for the recommendation!

2

u/AxDevilxLogician May 04 '26

Buy the compendium. it’s like $35 on amazon. Just got mine last week

2

u/OverallBeing1242 May 04 '26

Justin Jordan is the writer. I also recommend Reaver. Very good story and memorable characters.

2

u/Legendary-Icon May 04 '26

This book is so damn good.

2

u/bucky_thunder May 05 '26

hahah had the same experience/reaction the first time I read this also!

2

u/ThatGoblinNamedGobbo May 05 '26

Objectively correct opinion.

The Luthor Strode series has been criminally underrated for years. I still have single issues from when they were being printed because they're just so peak.

If you're a fan of the art, you should check out Tradd Moore's other works. He did the art for a SICK and psychedelic Dr. Strange story called Fall Sunrise that is just next level.

2

u/MarcusWastakenn May 06 '26

The Art by Tradd Moore is stunning and the way it floors! impeccable stuff.

2

u/MaceZilla May 06 '26

After reading the comments in this post I bought the Luther Strode complete collection. Damn it's awesome. I just got to the part pictured here.

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 06 '26

Fuck yeah! Glad to have introduced you to this badass book!

2

u/MaceZilla May 06 '26

Couple of HOLY SHIT panels in that warehouse fight.

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 06 '26

Dude when he killed his mom… My mouth was on the goddamn floor, the librarian was just taunting the poor soul the entire fight

2

u/MaceZilla May 06 '26

The librarian punches through Luthers stomach then hurls him into the air while holding his intestines. What the actual fuck

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 06 '26

bro’s the definition of built different, ain’t no librarian got the facilities to do something like that - hence the guy’s backstory

2

u/ProfessionalSquash77 May 07 '26

Very torn on this series. LOVE the art, but the story and dialogue reads like it was written by a 14 year old who just discovered Nietzche

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 08 '26

i think that was what they were going for, like a kick-ass type- storyline but put a huge emphasis on action

2

u/Mad_Samurai616 May 07 '26

Well, that looks dope. It’s making my 90’s kid heart dance. Gonna have to read this. Thanks for the recommendation, OP!

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 08 '26

No problemo, fellow comic book reader!

2

u/Solidusword May 09 '26

Moore is incredible. I only ever read the first trade of this but I adored it. Did it conclude? Is it collected in 3 books or is there more now?

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 09 '26

I have no idea because this is the only trade that I’ve read as well 😭

1

u/cowboys30 May 04 '26

Has this series been collected in a complete addition or omnibus or something? Per usual, having trouble finding information online and the Wikipedia isn't clear.

1

u/Luisrm0221 May 04 '26

Yes image dropped a complete, hardcover and it was awesome. Kinda tougher to find these days but completely worth it. All types of extra art and insights. Highly recommend if you can get your hands on it.

1

u/The_prawn_king May 04 '26

There’s a complete collection in both hc and pb

2

u/The_prawn_king May 04 '26

Gets better. The action is so easy to follow it’s really well done.

1

u/CrispyChickenOG May 04 '26

You didn’t bought the compendium?

2

u/yuuki157 May 04 '26

Got me curious

1

u/ryleyloser May 04 '26

One of the best!

1

u/Mister_Shelbers May 04 '26

All 3 are on the library app Hoopla

1

u/cc17776 May 04 '26

What comic is it?

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

Strange TALENT of Luther Strode

1

u/tripsz May 04 '26

I know I'll be alone here, and even though I think the art is cool, I just thought the writing and the story in general were kind of irritating.

1

u/derp_in_ur_face May 04 '26

Whats comic?

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 04 '26

Strange Talent of Luther Strode

2

u/OozaruPrimal May 05 '26

I have always wanted a prequel series. It is easily one of my favorite comics of all time.

1

u/hansel08 May 05 '26

I get my asses kicked by Petra in one of the issues. I have the page on my wall.

2

u/BLOODYWOOF May 07 '26

This comic been slept on way to long. Art only gets better per volume.

1

u/soldatoj57 May 07 '26

I’m sorry to say, but it’s so annoying when someone doesn’t post the name of the comic for people that don’t know

1

u/Particular_Mistake33 May 08 '26

Well I don’t mean to be rude but I did in fact said the name of the book “Luther Strode” in the description of the post.

1

u/soldatoj57 May 17 '26

Not being rude at all, it was my foolishness missing it😓 thank you for pointing it out politely actually
