I had to look up Rola. I hadn't heard that before. Interesting.
How's life in Bogota? I think I'd prefer the weather to Cali, but I heard it's one of the worst cities for driving in the world lol.

In 2024, 48% of hispanics voted for Trump. This is after he very specifically mentioned wanting to go after hispanics, which would turn off some conservative hispanics. Not quite "most hispanics are very right leaning", but they are at least more likely than not be conservative.
For people who grew up in immigrant families (including me, I am talking from personal experience), many are well-aware of hearing their parents complain how the new immigrants and immigrants from other countries are lazy criminals, while they themselves are the unique model minority, and some will vote for racist politicians under the false belief they will only target the other immigrants.
South America is not one homogenous ethnic mass, there's plenty of racism to be had between the various countries, and lots of hispanics are willing to join ICE to lay the hurt on other South Americans.
Support for Trump among hispanics is currently very down. Certain conservative Hispanics realized Trump actually is pushing policies getting people who look like them killed, and isn't granting a special exemption for them.

I don’t support violence, but from the story this sounds like self defense against a drunkard. The ICE agent was blackout drunk, which should be a major concern in any profession. It sounds like only the ICE agent was harmed as well. I can only hope the agent is removed from their duty and charged appropriately.
It’s very telling that the first time ICE is shot was when one of them was blackout drunk and alone. Says a lot about the hiring practices, background checks, and mental health issues that plague the department. No one who holds that kinda power should be irresponsible enough to get so drunk they pass out in someone’s yard. No one can defend this.

The story keeps getting better and better. Definitely worth a read… He was passed out drunk on a lawn and proceeded to charge the 72-year-old. When the daughter intervened the ICE agent attacked her. The 72yo then produced a gun and shot the man. The daughter called her boyfriend… an off-duty police officer who handcuffed the ICE agent, who was taken to the hospital, and is expected to be booked into jail once recovered.

I’m willing to bet there will be more incidents like this, only much worse. A person can only take so much abuse before they finally snap. This is most likely an isolated case, and yet it won’t be the last. Too bad a majority of Americans, contrary to popular belief, don’t have enough firepower to stand their ground.
