Ask IndiaTech TP Link WiFi Cameras no longer available

Post image

Are TP Link WiFi Cameras no longer sold? Haven't seen stock on Amazon for a few months now. Could someone point me to a reliable source?

Tp link tapo cameras are the best. CP plus and Qubo cameras are shit. And Indian govt banned due security reasons (fair) and it's been 1.5 years now. I don't think they are interested in India. They can easily shift their plant to Taiwan to bypass the Indian regulations.

They did this on purpose to make money.

Qubo ones are shit. Installed two outdoors now they have disconnected from wifi, tapo ones are working fine. Read a reddit post, its common for qubo cameras to randomly disconnect from network.

What fair security reason? Indian gov is one of the stupidest, they didn't found any vulnerability or leak happening, just simply said not allowed. CP plus shipa with Chinese firmware too.

What's the best alternative then?

I have TP Link cameras installed at home and I need another 3,4. I’ve been waiting for the past year for them to relaunch, but I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s a better alternative to TP-Link.

There is none, entire sub standard camera lobby got the TP link banned

For real! I have a bunch of tapo stuff and am happy with the ecosystem, works well with home assistant too. Someone I know bought a CP plus and the app looks like a hot turd with ads all over.

Weird that their video doorbells are still available (https://amzn.in/d/08nDEQ91)

That's because doorbell is outstation, while rest cameras are sold with indoor tags

Certification issue. Same for the vigi series ip cameras. I got my friend in Australia to get me 4 units of vigi ip cameras when he came for vacation.

This 🤣

I reached out their support, it's the government certification where it's pending, they are already in stock but not allowed to sell until government wants, STQC certification.

Which the govt won't give..

Is ambani planning to acquire any camera company? Would make sense then.

2

u/oliver1845 23h ago

Is dvr required for this camera?

2

u/sleepaholc 23h ago

No, not required, it has a micro SD slot to record to or you can pay for cloud recording

1

u/oliver1845 22h ago

Thanks. This is only for indoor use, right? Also have a outdoor one? I am interested in buying if and when they relaunch.

Can we use our own cloud storage if we have any or does the cloud storage have to be bought from them?

1

u/sleepaholc 17h ago

Don't think you can use Google drive / one drive. You can setup frigate and handle storage locally.

1

u/Salty-Dust-7322 23h ago

No, they use dedicated SD card for storage and your wifi for connectivity

1

u/wistoria_sword 1d ago

You can get it in tpstech.

1

u/sleepaholc 22h ago

Out of stock here too unfortunately

1

u/Mitul114 1d ago

I emailed them, they can't commit to a timeline as of now. But it's under certification process.

2

u/spartacusblr 21h ago

Yeah this is a 'soft barrier's by govt....won't get certified and will be left hanging by our vishwaguru sarkaar.
