Help with starting a new game store

Hello everyone! I am gathering information on starting a new game store in Rushville, Indiana. It's a nice and quiet town that I believe has the potential for a great community. Interests for this store will range from TCG's, TTG's, Video Games, and Board Game. Me and my partner want to create a place where people of all ages, from young to old, can come and play games together in a safe environment while also learning about new things, such as learning to play a new TCG that came out, or wants to get into D&D or Warhammer. We want to be as inclusive as possible to all gamers.

Please, if you have any interest, and live around Rushville, or are willing to visit from time to time, fill out this form so we can find our market and can better prepare for a store for everyone.

Thank you!

I've seen so many small game stores come and go, especially in small towns by people that love the hobby, make sure you've worked retail somewhere before for a while, Someplace that might let you get to know how to do inventory, ordering, and other things, not necessarily games.

I don't live in the area, but good luck to you!

I actually have a lot of retail experience. Your advice is solid, thank you for it. I have a number dedicated for how many responses we get on the survey so I can know if this becomes the right call. Once i hit that number, I plan on another survey. Thank you again for your response and good will

I'd love to help, but I live too far away. I'd never even heard of Rushville and had to look it up.

Filled out your survey. I can tell you this, as long as you don’t sell product at market price you should be liked by many. I’ve gone to several stores lately and they use TCGPlayer as a sell price. I never returned to those stores. A limit would be nice to reduce scalpers and provide access to the public, like 2 ETBs at retail, more than that at market price; or raise the limit a bit but slice open the seal wrap.

Ive been thinking of ways to prevent scalpers. The slice open thing is definitely hilarious. Also thank you for filling it out! If you have any friends, please share it with them. This data is huge for me being able to get it going, and also theres some kind of convention in Rushville every year, I may be volunteering to teach tcgs at it, but won't know till I go to a meeting tonight
