General Animal Farm seems like a description of Indian politics
I just finished Animal Farm, and much of it feels like it describes Indian politics today. Leaders make big promises to win trust. Once in power, they exploit that trust. When things go wrong, they blame past governments, opponents, or outsiders, just as Napoleon blames Snowball, and there is no real accountability.
Orwell wrote this about the Soviet Union, but I think the pattern is the same.

Now read 1984, that's even more relatable.

No 1984 is what we will be in few more years with BJP continuing, ANIMAL farm shows how we get there more clearly day to day.

No no. Literally 1984. Now. 2012-2014 was the Animal Farm period.

Hindi khatre me he and all other people are trying to take over us and then literally changing rules before people find out and trying to utilise th illiteracy of people to continue supporting them and making it that politicians and some businessmen are bigger than people and they need more resources while people suffer is very clearly animal farm

Welcome to real world.

So nothing's gonna change?

u/L0rd0fTheRing 1d ago
Big political changes occur when there are crises. For us, last it was 90-92 with mandal, mandir and liberalisation. And these are events years and years in the making. So yes, change occurs, but is really slow.

Read Seneca’s essays. He was born in the year 4 AD. You’ll realise that not much has changed in 2000 years.

u/tzee_e 22h ago
So, it's a cycle that keeps repeating cause human nature doesn't change?
2
u/OPPineappleApplePen 20h ago
Not exactly but kinda yeah. The core nature remains the same.
Read these:
On the shortness of Life
Consolation to Helvia
On Tranquility of MindYou’ll probably find all the three in the book “On the Shortness of Life” by Seneca. It felt line a personal attack when I first read it.

Might sound pessimistic but it''s the same everywhere and always

Doesnt have to be if the government keeps changing every term or 2 terms it's only majorly an issue when the government stays for more terms and people become dumber to actually see what's happening around them

No it isn’t, then why does developed countries enjoy clean air, clean water and clean and safe environment. Their leaders achieved it and all the above mentioned is considered a basic stuff to live by their citizens.

Clean air because they have transferred almost all of the heavy polluting industries to the developing or underdeveloped countries. Also, because they have all the money looted from colonising the same countries till few decades back and they can use costlier technologies to limit pollution.
Clean water again the second reasom from above.
Cleaner streets, no massive heaps of garbage on landfills because they ship all their waste including hazardous ones to Africa and Asia where it goes in landfills, choke rivers, pollute groundwater etc.
On top of everything, money changes things even if slowly, so they are century ahead of us. Because when the colonisation ended it was like they were super rich and the colonised countries were super poor. In 1940s or 50s, London famously faced acid rain, now do they? China till fee years back had one of the most severe air pollution, but do they now?

Yes As a cautionary tale of what happens after dikpe/raga and gang win this. Suits the original Orwell idea well.

Silence everyone who speaks against the regime with the help of guard Dogs. Wonder what is reminiscent of that in the real world rn😶

Its tale of what happened after 2014 as well.

A democratic transfer of power happened in 2014. And the subsequent years. Not a mob led street veto "revolution " like in animal farm.
2
u/Foxyspyrex 1d ago
And even now that is not possible. There's no way a revolution like that can happen in India.

The massive pr campaign to create 2g scam out of thin air is conveniently brushed aside? The promises to bring back black money and distribute it 15 lakhs to your account and mine. The promise to lower prices. I remember those . You dont?
4
u/SPB29 1d ago
Ah yes because Sonia in power only created the 2g PR campaign.
Also show me the exact video where Modiji promises 15l in your account and I will donate 15l to cjp (or aimim, or tmc or pappu Cong) today.

The day is not far when you will say demonetisation happened because opposition allowed it and that CEC was given lifelong immunity to protect him from foreign funded litigations.

u/SPB29 22h ago
Leave all that aside, how is the BJP responsible for high vat on fuel in a non BJP run state.
Stick to the topic and don't blabber on endlessly
1
u/coojasim 8h ago
Why leave 'all 'that aside! Isn't that how the BJP won the people's mandate? Through a massive corporate funded PR campaign. UPA was definitely facing anti incumbency but you cant deny the role media played to manipulate the masses. And what happened to the 2G scam or Coal scam! Turned out it was all a big bubble.

u/SPB29 8h ago
Do not blabber.
First answer how is the BJP responsible for fuel taxes in a non BJP state.

u/coojasim 8h ago
Were you not blabbering about some 'democratic transfer of power'? You dont even realise the carpet has already been pulled from under you. What you are experiencing is not called democracy but Orwells dystopian animal farm. You think you have the right to vote but you have no idea that your choice has already been made by others through careful manipulation. What you are doing in the voting both is simply exercising that choice on behalf of others.

Finding real life similarities in realistic dystopian books is extremely cool (and obviously scary)
