App confusion on play store

Quick question, ive looked this app up on play store and there is 2 versions one paid and one free, do both require subscriptions to use?

The paid one used to be a way to donate to the dev, before Reddit made it so it requires a subscription. So yeah both apps are the same thing and require a subscription
