DB Bahn and EC to Warsaw

Hello, I booked a joint ticket from Dortmund to Warsaw, with a connection from Berlin to Rzepin.

If my ICE is delayed, then I will miss the EC to Warsaw. Can I take the next available EC to Warsaw, or is any seat booking required?

If you have time, you can ask for a replacement reservation. But you don't really need to worry about it. It is only mandatory between Frankfurt(Oder) and Rzepin and the staff almost never care, if they are checking between those stations at all.

I'm assuming that with "joint ticket" you mean a single through ticket, as is standard for most journeys in/from Germany.

Yes, a single ticket is booked, but is it possible to check the next available train with the same ticket?

If you miss your connecting train, you don't need a new ticket. You travel with the same ticket. You can go to the information stand and have the missed connection confirmed on your ticket, if you want. You formally need a new reservation for the next EC, which must be provided free of charge, but like I said, it's not really important for these trains.

Seconding this - did the Berlin-Warsaw run last spring on one through-ticket. The only reservation that actually matters is Frankfurt (Oder)-Rzepin and it's like EUR 4.50, so even if staff never check it's cheap peace of mind. And if your ICE is late enough to miss the EC, DB has to rebook you onto the next one at no extra cost since it's all one ticket.

On 18.10, there will be a replacement bus from Berlin to Rzepin, so I guess no specific seat reservation is required,
