its almost like characters don’t rationalize the way viewers do and have their own mindsets and motivations like how the viltrum empire isnt just him and if the viltrumites have to be carried by him then they arent worthy to him
his mindset and motivation is to win the war and decimate Thaedus and the rest, and also repopulate his species
there’s a difference between not wanting to carry, and completely sitting out of the fight and being a clear detriment to his own people. he picked the fight, it’s common sense that he should probably also pull his weight in it rather than expecting everyone else to do all the work and then pretending it’s “oh no I just didn’t wanna carry is all, you guys gotta win it for me” what kind of species that’s meant to lead through strength would believe sitting on his ass the whole fight is a good show of his leadership and strength.
im not even defending thragg but i think theyve shown enough to show that that IS his flaw, he just broods and aura farms too much and maybe Argall was a much more effective viltrum leader than he is, as he’s just more of a weapon
like even in the last fight, he probably would have just stood there menacingly if the rest of the viltrumites packed the coalition people up, even if it meant more losses to them
its definitely something like the viltrum way isnt as effective or able to handle every solution as they think
which is why i agree thragg does in fact make pretty silly decisions, but i think u can still follow why
