Question How to make friends with fellow females in Istanbul?

Hello. I have a question for girls living here in Istanbul. My daughter, currently a foreign university student, often shares with me how she tries to make friends at her her university. She arranges to go out, but her uni friends often make promises to go, cancels last minute, or leave early. They do that and so many more not so nice behaviors which sometimes leaves me speechless. They are not good friends material.

She went from being super extroverted at the start of her degree to barely going out.

I guess it's silly to think that there is a group or organizing in Istanbul with kind girls in it, but I'm wondering if any girl maybe has some advice in terms of what worked for them in terms of finding a group of people that at least behave a bit more normally. Where there is at least he potential to meet fellow females that behave more kindly.

She joined a gym, but it's mostly men there. I thought maybe tennis lessons, but not sure how social that is. What else could she join or do that's a bit social?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions..

Question Home internet issues in Istanbul

Hey, everyone.

I recently moved to Istanbul to study my Master’s. I live in the Beylikduzu area and I am renting an apartment here.

I have been trying to get WiFi but no luck with different companies.
I tried asking TrukNet and they said they won’t allow fiber or home internet to IDs starting with 98.
I asked Vodafone and they want 1 year’s payment upfront.
I asked Turkcell and they agreed if I pay a deposit as well as increased prices. I agreed, paid the deposit and I waited for over 20 days and no luck.
I called their call center multiple times, visited the store where I had purchased and gave the deposit. No luck. I cancelled it after around 20 days.
I asked Turkcell and Vodafone for their WiFi boxes (Red Box and Super box, if I’m saying the names correctly), they said they can’t give those to foreigners.

I have online and in person classes and I’ve been constantly buying esims and they’ve been running out cause I use the hotspot for my laptop and TV. Have spent over $100 this month just for internet.

I wanted to go back to Vodafone and pay yearly at this point but I’m assuming even if I do, something like Turkcell might happen.

After running out of options, I thought I’d ask here and see if anyone faced a similar issue or has a solution in mind.

Thank you

Looking for...

Travel Missing suitcase SAW

Hey guys, we arrived today at around 20:30 15.10 at S A W air port and took a driver to go to our hotel.
Suddenly we noticed that one of our suitcases was missing. We think maybe someone took it by accident. Do you have an idea what we can do? We talked immediately with the organizers but there are so many different agencies that we could not identify which persons left just before us this place.
Just in case someone reading this can help I would be so thankful!

Question Yurt kararsizligim..

Looking for... Does anyone know where I can buy mountain tea (dağ çayı)?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I was in Albania before I came to visit here in Istanbul. While I was there I bought çaj mali, or mountain tea, also called Greek mountain tea, sideritis, ironwort. I understand it is called dağ çayı here. I was hoping to find more here in one of the many tea & herb & spice shops, but they all seem to only carry the same things (like viagra tea 🤔). Perhaps someone here knows if there is some non-touristy place that has it? Thanks
