News Jimmy Eat World Library Cards

I’m a public librarian in NC and just found out about the new Jimmy Eat World library cards in Mesa, AZ. Anyone in Mesa willing to help me get one? Anyone on here already have one?

The library should sell un-usable commemorative cards as a fundraiser! I’m sure plenty of us fans would love to have one. What a cool thing.

Strong agree. How do we collectively suggest this?

You need to live within Maricopa county. They check your ID when signing up for the card. I received mine yesterday

Same! Yeah, Unfortunately not anyone/everyone can get one. And I’m personally not in the market to sell mine haha 😂

I understand that. I don’t want a full library account/access. In the past I helped someone do a school project where they contacted library systems around the US and had them send them a library card. I was hoping someone in the Mesa, AZ area might be willing to do something like that. It’s a very long shot, I know.

Since you are a public librarian, I would recommend trying to reach out to a librarian at the Mesa Library to see if you can do some sort of reciprocal thing. I'm not a Mesa librarian but live in Mesa and am a librarian in a surrounding city and know many Mesa librarians. Would be worth a shot.

That said, I'm not sure random patrons would be willing to give you the card. Not sure how NC is, but here the library cards have the barcodes pre-printed on the back and that number would be associated with that person's library account. They would be giving you their library card and losing it for themselves. Unless they truly don't give a shit about their library account lol.

In my system we give people new cards for free and don’t track it. So, theoretically someone could get a card on Monday and Friday come back and say they lost it and get another one. I also saw a post on social media from someone who got the Jimmy Eat World card and kept their old (no longer active card). In my system we can reinstate an old card too. I think I will reach out to Mesa libraries and see if they would be willing to work something out for a fellow librarian.
