I need someone accomplished with photoshop to make this happen.

Serious question: is Jimothyās condition genetic and will it be passed down to offspring? Does he have no real chance at offspring since he would obviously not be able to mate if heās in competition with a ānormalā raccoon?
22
u/LordBeeWood 2d ago
If he has Short Spine Syndrome like people believe, then yes. Short Spine Syndrome is passed down genetically though we arent exactly sure what genes are invovled so outside of it being really rare we cant predict how exactly its passed down.
That being said, it is again a rare condition. If Jimothy has children it is actually still very unlikely his kids will also have Short Spine Syndrome, and they will likely just carry the genes.

Sometimes I wonder if there's some other beings out that love us in the way we love Jimothy. Maybe something we see on a regular basis (like how Jimothy sees humans all the time) that we don't fully understand.
And we just don't know the depth of their love for us, just like Jimothy doesn't know the depth of our love for him. He's just out there living his life, completely unaware of the fact that humans have gathered to talk about how great he is through a method of communication he can't even comprehend.

u/Jim__Bro 2d ago
Dogs. Youāre talking about dogs.
49
u/TrashPandaAntics 2d ago
That love is mutual though, we love dogs and they love us. I'm talking about more of like a distant admiration, of being loved from afar.
42
u/chickenismysafeword 2d ago
Itās said that elephants think humans are cute. Unless theyāve encountered bad ones of course

I find it easier to make sense of this by reminding myself that our culture and language focus very much on the separateness of all life.
Another perfectly valid viewpoint is we are Jimothy, as well as the trees, the ocean, etc.
24
u/phoenixliv 2d ago
I hear a lot of First Nations see people as a sibling to other animals and sibling to plants. Jimothy is our brother.

How do we nominate Jimothy for Time's Person of the Year?
7
u/HowToNotMakeMoney 2d ago
I was thinking he should be elected first all seats open for office. Imagine Jimothy: Governor, senator, congressman and sheriff. Across multiple states.
7
u/Trinity_Lost 2d ago
I am seriously considering writing him in everywhere I can, just because I'm so sick of all the politics right now.
3
u/Wondertwig9 1d ago
Please, do so only if you're not in a swing state. Jimothy wouldn't want to bad guys to win because he split the vote with the good guys.

Can someone help me understand why we see him so much during the day? Aren't raccoons nocturnal? He's not like spurned by the raccoon collective, is he?
29
u/Swimming-Dot9120 2d ago
People have speculated that he finds it easier to forage during the day because thereās less competition from other raccoons, which makes sense. He could also possibly have poor night vision. I donāt think heās spurned! Lol
4
u/jimothymybud 2d ago
I see other raccoons in the neighborhood regularly in groups of 2-3 but jimothy is always alone. I hope he isnāt spurned by them š„²

His mom cared for him at least. I was worried he would be fully abandoned. But heās a dude. Males are more solitary than the females.
4
u/lilwigglebutt 2d ago
This is what I was wondering as well. I live in the Midwest and only ever see raccoons dead in the road or at night rummaging through our garbage cans.

u/ObjectiveAd93 2d ago
Anyone else think heās lost in the sauce, drunk off fermented fruit like apples? I see it with squirrels all of the time! Drunk Jimothy is a possibility.

u/HamNEgger_2 2d ago
I live in Seattle area as well and have two (regular) raccoons that use my sloped front yard as a playground. They roll down the hill like kids.

Iām in Othello, ours like to play with the cat toys we have on the porch for the stray hood cats.

u/Difficult-Low5891 2d ago
I think he knows heās an internet sensation.

u/golgiiguy 2d ago
I have theories that he somehow suspects he has it easy and is protected. That may be true in terms of his raccoon family having his back. Jimothy has like six brothers and sisters out there. Its possible he is sort of untouchable in some raccoon circles where territory and competition is a non factor.

Thanks for the fresh Jimothy content. Always love seeing Jimothy happy.
Do we know if Jimothy is a male or female yet? I'm not trying to correct you or anything, I'm just curious. Can't seem to find an answer.
12
u/filthyheartbadger 2d ago
Iāve done some hard stares at the precious butt in various vids , no sign that I can see of anything definitive but thereās really not good clear images from what Iāve seen. Also, tail in the way. I donāt know if he is too young yet for anything visible or how that works in raccoons.
3
u/psgarretson 2d ago
Female. Light under belly. Males have dark bellies and a āprotuberanceā in the middle.

5
u/Jim__Bro 2d ago
Iāve only ever seen him alone. Iāve seen other raccoons alone and in families (usually 3-4), but I donāt know if Jimothy is more of a loner, if itās normal for his age, or something else entirely
